I watched some of Fever vs expansion GS Valkyries and it was sold out and the home team crowd easily outnumbered CC fans 10-1. It wasn't even close that all those people were there for a brand new expansion team, they were going nuts with every home basket and nobody was cheering when Clark made a play. It was no different than when Iowa played at Hilton CC's last game.

The "there's only one Caitlyn" people have somewhat of a point, but that crowd for an expansion team cheering against CC suggests they're just waiting to make this a bigger thing and she was a spark.

Reminds of a million years ago when I moved to the Twin Cities and the Twins still played at the old Met in Bloomington. Twins really sucked so I would call my buddy and say something like "Hey, wanted go to game? Orioles are in town and Jim Palmer is pitching." We went to see the stars, not the Twins but cheered for the Twins.

I agree, there is no denying what CC has done and I don't want to derail this or take it off topic but a few years ago when Megan Rapinoe was getting a lot of attention about her comments on women's sports ,I heard her compare Sabrina Ionescu to Anthony Edwards. Ant is a huge bball brand but Sabrina had more followers on all social media. She wasn't saying Sabrina should get paid the same as Ant or anything, her point was that the market was there, it just wasn't being taken advantage of. The CC/Reese drama gave it a stage and now it's being taken advantage of.

Valkyries currently lead the WNBA in average attendance for home games at 18,000+. Their fans are legit.

I remembered Detroit Shock but I had to google Cleveland Rockers.

The WNBA has kept the trademarks of former teams (e.g., Houston Comets, Detroit Shock, Cleveland Rockers, Charlotte Sting, etc.) "live" since those teams moved or folded outright.

Doesn't mean they have to reuse them, but they have the option to, and sometimes already having all the paperwork done and the IP locked down is a good enough reason to keep it as it is.

Their color scheme being black and purple when they have "Golden" in their name annoys me.
