Really good stuff made by Michelob. They have it at Old Chicago's everywhere, and at Hy-Vee as well.

It is winter ale aged in bourbon casks and Madagascar vanilla beans.

If you like dark beer or winter ales, try this one!

Yeah, I enjoy it. For being made by A-B, its pretty good. Not knocking A-B, but it seems when a big brewer tries to make a craft beer, its just weaker than a micro would be, but I definitely enjoy this better than some Winter Ales. Very smooth, and the flavors are easy to identify. Enjoyed some while tailgating for the Mizzou game...

I got you on the A-B. I don't know if I would have tried it knowing it was made by Michelob. At Old Chicago they just called it Winter's Bourbon Cask Ale, then when I looked for it at Hy-Vee I couldn't find it because I was looking in the microbrew section. I asked about it and the clerk showed me where it was.

I was shocked it was a Michelob product.

Sam Adams has a similar winter ale, I just had it tonight and its phenominal...

Thats pretty good too, but I got really burned out on it my sophomore year, when it was on firesale at the Keg Shop from march-may at $10/case. Drank a lot of Sam Adams Winter Ale that spring.

does it have a strong bourbon flavor, or is it more subdued?

Its there, I would say not strong, but maybe mild or a step above mild?

I may not be the best judge because I find good whiskeys not harsh at all.

The waiter at Old Chicago said almost everybody likes it.

it's noticeable, but never tastes like you're drinking Wild Turkey or anything like that...

Thats unfortunate. I was hoping for something along the lines of Dragon's Milk from New Holland brewery, or the bourbon ale from Goose Island (can't remember the name).

I suppose flavor is expensive though.
