After 7 years in this house my wife is finally letting me get a ZTR mower (now I will get even less exercise and be fatter). Problem is, my chain-link gate with the hinges is only about 46" wide. The Toro 42" ZTR is 45-something inches (with deflector shield up) but I know with my luck when I got it home it wouldn't fit.

So, either I get a 32" ZTR Toro, which I heard isn't as good, or come up with a cheap solution for widening my gate. Does anyone sell a kit or anything? Any thoughts? I can't be the only guy who's had to do this before. I'd really rather not have the fence company come and charge me hundreds but I suppose that's an option.

Chop one of the posts off a little above ground level then get a slightly bigger tube to go over this as a sleeve to allow for easy "deposting" to let your mower through

This solution is real good.

If you do a quick search on youtube you should be able to find out how to thread the links in and out of a fence. Get a double gate, dig a hole to fit it, put in a new pole, fill with concrete, install double gate, done.

Yes, I had to widen my gate to get my new, bigger riding mower through it.

Instead of mowing through the posts, you could mow next to the posts and when the opening comes, turn in quick. Kinda hard to explain, but it doesnt cost anything.
