Help: Why can't I post a picture in my sig?

No problem with getting a pic in my Avatar, but when I try to upload a pic for my sig it won't give me anything but the little red "x".

All the pics I've tried are sized properly (between 4k and 18k) and still no luck.

Any ideas??
