Does anyone have experience using a wheelchair to get someone to and from Jack Trice? When I take my dad to games this season I’ll probably need to use his collapsible wheelchair to get him from the car to the concourse. He can get from there to our seats with his cane. Is there a place I can store the wheelchair during the game? The guest services by concessions? Any other helpful information would be appreciated.

Your dad's situation sounds very similar to my cousin's a few years ago. He was able to be dropped off very near the south entrance and was then taken up the ramp near their four seats by one of the golf cars that you often see. Iowa State took equally EXCEPTIONAL care of him both before and after the games.

I don't know if your father is going to the first game or not, but you could research anything that may have changed or be different since then from what I have told you. I think if the same service is still available, it would eliminate your having to deal with or worry about the wheelchair.

I hope this helps and works out for you.

I planned to take my Dad in a wheelchair to the UNI game last year but it was too hot. If your Dad has a handicap sign, park in the handicap parking near the south entrance. My plan was to us to use the wheelchair to get in the stadium, then have the golf cart get him up the ramp to the concourse. I would then take him by wheelchair to our section. I was told by ISU that I should leave the wheelchair at the top of the section. We had seats for that game in the area designated for limited mobility, so they said there would be several wheelchairs there. I even considered getting a bike lock or something to lock it up, but like I said we never made it. Good luck taking your Dad to the game. Enjoy it. My Dad passed in October of last year. We had a lot of great memories going to the games even in his later years when things weren’t so easy. I’m glad I made the effort to take him.

Even though we didn’t get to go to the UNI game last year, we went to Pickles and watched in the AC and eat pizza and drank beer.
