I was wondering what everyone thought the worst holiday was to work on. I would say for me its a toss up between the 4th of July and Christmas although working on New Years Eve sucks.

Christmas and Thanksgiving are about the only holidays I really care about. Most of the others are simply a welcome day off - but that's about it.

Before I had kids I would say Independence Day or New Years Eve. But now it's definitely Christmas Day. Not that I care about the religious aspect but there's nothing more fun than watching kids on Christmas.

I'm single and I like to party and I grew up close to Okoboji so Memorial Day, 4th of July or Labor Day. Also, in my line of work I can't imagine it will ever happen but I think Christmas would take the cake if I missed it. I missed both Easter and Thanksgiving this last year and that sucked, but not as much as the others would.

When I worked stocking shelves at Hy-Vee, it was definitely Thanksgiving. We were supposed to close at 2:00, and people would still be shoving to get in there at 2:15 to get 2 cans of pumpkin pie filling, then ***** and moan that we already sold 200 cases of it and we don't have any left.

It didn't help that the shift manager had a wet paper towel for a backbone, and refused to lock the doors as long as there were "paying customers' wanting to get in.

Almost no one works on Thanksgiving, Easter, or Christmas unless it's medical related, in law enforcement, or at a convenience store.

For the holidays that a lot of people do work on I would say Memorial Day is the worst to work on. Most people have to work the following Tuesday so they are doing stuff earlier in the day. If you are working, once you are off work most people are wrapping up their day.

I don't mind working 4th of July at all. I personally have little interest in parades or carnivals so as long as I'm off in time to grill in the evening, have some beers, and watch the fireworks I am happy.

My family and friends have never done anything on Labor Day so I forget that it's a holiday most of the time.
