I talked to someone today who could not go a full sentence without bashing Pollard in some way. It got me thinking, whether he is fired this year like some hope, or he stays for a decade like others hope, what accomplishment does everyone think Pollard will be remembered for?

At the beginning of next fall, it will be 4 years under Pollard. I thought it would be interesting to see what has happened in Pollard's 4 years compared to the 4 years before Pollard. "Post" Pollard years are 2005-2009, "Pre" Pollard years are 2001-2005.

Post- We spent 40 million in facilities improvements.
Pre- We spent 20 million in facilities improvements.

Post- We increased the athletic budget by over 20 million
Pre- We have increased the athletic budget by over 10 million

Post- We are 16-32 in football and have been to one bowl
Pre- We were 23-26 in football and went to three bowls

Post- We are 60-65 in MBB and have not been to the NCAA
Pre- We were 66-57 in MBB and went to the NCAA once

Post- We won 4 Big12 titles (wrestling and gymnastics)
Pre- We won one share of the Big12 North title in football

Post- We finished NCAA tournaments in the top eight, 5 times (wrestling, gymnastics, and volleyball, WBB not finished yet)
Pre- We finished NCAA tournaments in the top eight, 2 times (wrestling)

Post- We have had 3 football coaches, 2 MBB coaches, 2 wrestling coaches, 1 WBB coach
Pre- We had 1 football coach, 2 MBB coaches, 1 wrestling coach, 1 WBB coach

Coaches are remembered for team accomplishments, not athletics directors.

I'm going to say he's going to be the person remembered for putting Iowa State in a Division 1 football stadium. Face it, even with the concession improvements, we still play in a glorified high school stadium. If he gets his wish (and I do think he will because he's driven) and gets the end zone bowled in, that'll be his biggest contribution.

Definitely the improvement to facilities. Otherwise, he's been a pretty crappy IMO.

Oh, and holy crap our budget must have been tiny in 2000 if it has increased $30 million in the last 8 years.

Time will tell. He has developed a bigger fan base than before. Raised money and got things built. His only problem is BB and FB are not winning. He has hired quality coaches to lead those programs so time will tell.

Another thing: Wow are the football and basketball wins totals humbling.

What I get out of that is that:
a) we are not very good at football and haven't been for some time
b) we are not very good at basketball and haven't been for some time

His coaches have to win before that project gets done. When I say win I mean his current FB coach has to win a Big 12 North title and play in the Big 12 title game, sometime in the next 5 years.

I'll go for bowl games in 2-3 of the next 5 years. Then bowl games 6-7 out of the next 10 years. We need to build consistency. I'd LOVE to be to a point where I could whine about being sent to a crappy bowl game every year.

Any bowl game for us is a good bowl game. We've been bad in football for a long time. Even certain bowl teams we've had we're bad just because of how terribly they underachieved.

The thing is, before, we were just good enough to make it into post season play, now we are just bad enough to miss post season play.

Sorry, I can't vote since the poll wasn't properly constructed. Had it been , my answer would have been: budget and facilities improvements.

:embarrassed: ooops. I mistakenly assumed only one answer was allowed. Maybe a note behind the question like (vote for all that apply) for us thick-headed individuals?

You better be embaresed:jimlad:

I never do that because I always get a bunch of wise*** that click on everything.

Is he Jamie the Builder or Jamie the Talker?

He talked about bowling in the football stadium and as I recall he even unveiled plans and artists' renditions of it. But what he built were some new hot dog stands on the west side of the stadium.

Why don't you two losers get a room and leave the rest of us alone?

If you two idiots donated as much as you bitched, we'd have the greatest athletic facilities in the history of Division I.

WE GET IT, YOU HATE POLLARD!!!!! Take your **** somewhere else. Your act has worn out its welcome here.
