What counts as success?

I'd like to see us play as a team the whole game, every game. I was disappointed to see us turn into 'pad CB stats mode' in the 2nd half. CB had the ball, Ham had inside position on his defender under the basket and CB doesn't pass him the ball but instead does a 1 on 1 move to get a shot off. Three or four straight possessions were CB doing 1 on 1 moves.

Its like the teams goals this year is to get CB drafted high and who cares about W/L. A winning season doesn't seem a priority.

I never root against the Cyclones, even at low points, and if any current player reads any of these boards, I hope they know most of us longtime fans aren't bashing them about the current situation. Everybody wants to win as much as possible.
Still, program-wise, I'm almost at the either-or stage.
The best thing, long term, is one of two wishes:
1. Things go so awfully awry that somehow there's pressure to buy out G's deal, to somehow find a way to make it financially feasible (but also find a viable replacement -- that's the part that worries me).
2. A complete miracle turnaround.
Choice 2 doesn't look realistic. Choice 1 has a lot of stipulations. At this juncture, I fear a stretch run that's somewhat above disastrous just to keep the status-quo, but not quite good enough to suggest hope for future seasons.
This post isn't specifically a dump-Mac campaign. Some of this has been the result of a cumulative thing dating back a decade (not to say that excuses GM's inability to show any signs of progress. I feel bad for him, too, because he's probably equally befuddled).

win the big 12 tourney. I'd love to see this team tank and quit. Lose out the regular season only to take the big 12 tourney.

That would be rather epic. It'd be pretty much about as "Cinderella" as you can get.

We are just so fat footed in rebounding and chasing after balls and dribblers. We cannot even fight through screens..

This. What do all of those things have in common? EFFORT!!! They are all pure effort plays that happen during the game and our guys just don't give the effort to make the plays. It would be hard to argue against the idea that this team has packed it in for the year.

With the talent on this team, I said NCAA or bust before the year started. I expect a NCAA berth.

NIT would be a dissappointment but at least there would be progress.

I don't completely disagree with you but we had 1) An NBA Lottery Pick and 1st team All-Big 12 returner, 2) The Big 12 Preseason Newcomer of the Year, and 3) a 3rd year starting point guard.

If we can't even sniff the top 1/2 of the league, let alone an NCAA berth with that...when can we? Next year? Doubt it. Year after? Not likely.

Yup. Almost no way the season can be considered a success now. We'd have to win out and/or win (or damn near win) the Big 12 tournament to get where we should be at the end of the year - NCAA tournament.
