Hope Potter picks Ames. We need another Canadian here; I am dying for someone to talk hockey with!

And by the way, she is not 6'5"; she is 195 cm!!

Here's a quote - more than a year old, but the "not too far from home" comment may help us versus Utah. And she has to know that people in Iowa are pretty similar to the people in Manitoba - friendly, emphasis on family, down to earth with no airs:

"I’d love to play in the States, but somewhere not too far from home. And I’m not counting the U of M out either. It’s my sister’s first year as a Bison and I’d love to pay with her," Potter said.

From his tweets yesterday, with no practice, coach looked at a couple of Iowa girls.

I hope one of those practices was at Ankeny High School. Jai Winters looked great leading her volleyball team to the state tournament. She is agile for her size and has the body to play college ball. I hope we are looking at her for a 2015 recruit. Maybe he went over to Cedar Falls to look at Kaz Brown, a 6'3" 2014 post. Good to hear that the DSM Cyclone Club had a good turnout. Go Clones...

Utah has something to offer Emily Potter besides the scenery.

The Ute's Canadian pipeline has been flowing women's bb recruits since the mid-90's - Women’s Basketball: Utah taps Canadian pipeline | The Daily Utah Chronicle - with a sprinkle of Europeans. Potter is not mentioned in the article, but this explains the seemingly curious attraction of the Beehive State school to such a notable recruit.

Since joining the Pac 12 Utah is recruiting harder across the continent determined to pull in the best they can. The Ute's have no girls' bb in Utah to tap (check last place in this amazing chart-bottom of page: How do basketball recruits make their decisions? - Swish Appeal ). So recruiting at Utah is an intense undertaking even with California so near.

Sadly talent like Potter's go to Utah and play in front of a few thousand. Watch their coach espousing Utah's virtues in the sites promotional vid and check the stands. If there is 1000 people, I'd be surprised. The Official Athletic Site of the University of Utah

Once again I am hoping for the best but see we are in a real fight for Potter.

Interesting, but you are adding new info to a very old thread; you might want to start a new thread.

I think it is logical to continue in an old post as the contexual history of cydney's post is revealed. Otherwise a what are you talking about is sure to follow unless you fill in the history and the old post does that.

The Utah coach was let go:

Maybe Potter would like to transfer? She could join her compatriot Carleton on our roster next year. Take a page out of Fred's book. Or Bill's book, with several successful transfers in the past -- Frese, ONeill, Robinette.

Potter missed this season with a a knee injury. There is one other Canadian coming back next year on the Utah roster who is a RS Soph.

Potter chose Utah because of the other Canadian players there more than anything.
