Hey, it's portal season and the final phase of recruiting for 2025. For general tracking I thought we could have a dedicated thread. Maybe @mred can start an ISU portal recruits thread once our season ends but there's a lot going to be happening that isn't us recruiting so here's a spot for it.

Update: Any news on portal recruiting directly related to ISU will be in @mred 's 2025 recruiting thread.

Couple of sites will track it:

Reading some and the general portal opens March 25. Believe the current posting are only for graduates or players from programs with coaching changes so it will be a few weeks before things heat up.

I generally just continue with the existing recruiting thread, so any ISU-specific portal stuff that I have (incoming, not outgoing) I'll be putting in the 2025 recruiting thread.

Couldn't remember how you did it last year but that sounds great. :)

An ISU assistant just started following Delaney Gibb on instagram, so I wonder if we'll hear about her hitting the portal fairly imminently.

That is interesting although I am skeptical she is leaving, mostly based on reading that she is from a LDS community in Canada. Still, should not take long to figure out, she does know the new coach so it's not like she has to meet and chat with a stranger to her.

Their top HS recruit, gal from NM, reaffirmed her commitment to BYU.

Complete conspiracy, but I wonder if Bill takes a paycut like Campbell and Otz to go all in these next two years

Otz got a 1.5 million bump - he did not take a pay cut. Campbell new contract has not been released.
You’re right. Fennelly is a baseball guy though wonder if he defers some money to help the roster now

I really think you are overestimating the amount of money being put towards WBB players. Unlike football and MBB, I think WBB NIL is actually coming from the player's personal brands. Sedona Prince has like 30 sponsors and claims about 350K in NIL and she is one of the biggest WBB NIL players.

It would be really interesting if he did do something like this (not sure if a coach even can do it legally) because Bill is probably in his second to last season and probably wants to go out on a high note.

On a recent broadcast for a BYU game they did say she was a big fan of Bridget Carlton, sounds like she has done some stuff for the Canadian National team with Carlton. Basically said Gibbs mentor is Carlton.

I just recall the conversation last year that Iowa threw a lot of money at Lucy Olson to get her there. If I remember correctly @brentblum said that Iowa gave her what we gave the collective 4 transfers that we brought in. No idea what that number was but not sure it would be in our budget.

I just don’t see athletic departments just giving rev share to 2 sports. I think football is getting 70% mbb 20-25%. 5% to everything else.

At this point in his career I think he cares more about winning than anything. I could be way off on all this

I think he makes about 800K - while a lot of money to most of us, I do not think that there is the huge buffer there to give a bunch back, especially at the end of his career.

Probably not happening, but my logic is for all we know Fennelly has 2 years left most likely. Would he be willing to take
‘25-26 400k
‘26-27 400k
‘27-‘30 200k per year for 4 years in retirement

400k extra per year is quite a bit for wbb and highly doubtful the new coach makes 800k when they start.

TBH, I'm kinda surprised our collective gave our transfers anything. Not saying they aren’t worth it, just would thing Football and MBB would need every penny it can get.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when We Will started I think it was just for football and MBB. I believe there was enough fan support that wanted to donate to just WBB they started taking care of the ladies as well.

Rachael Rose - G - Wofford - 2X SoCon Player of the Year - Averaged 23 Points / Game as a Junior - Played only six games in 24/25 due to injury. She might fit the profile of a veteran leader who would open the lane for Addy & Audi...

Yep…discussed in the recruiting thread. Interesting possibility and likely will be highly sought after.

Definitely interesting as a Lucy Olsen type one-year mercenary - I have no idea what the going rate is for such players, nor if ISU has the funds to go after them. Rachael Rose was injured in Wofford's sixth game of the year, but scored > 20 points versus ACC Tournament Champ Duke and SEC Tournament Champ South Carolina in earlier games - she didn't wilt in the face of high level competition, plus she contributes rebounds and assists. It's likely a pipe dream, but if we called Amari Whiting, I hope we'll call Rachael Rose too...
