My wife and I will celebrate 12 years this summer. We were married at Reiman Gardens.
Had a friend have their wedding at Reiman Gardens. The wedding was outside in the flowers and the reception was inside. The room we used during reception wasn't that big, though.
Had another friend have their reception at the Quality Inn, on 13th st. in Ames. I had no idea that place was so big inside. It was really nice, plus its always a good thing to have a reception/hotel combo, because I'm not really sure how I got back to the hotel room, I just remember waking up on the floor.

My wife and I had our reception at the Science Center. It was in the Founder's Hall which is behind where you get tickets. We had about 200-250 people. Lots of color and had a modern feel to it. I think they do weddings/receptions in the planetarium too but those are pretty small.
That's the front runner right now. The only hold up is the $21/plate.
Also, what about the CPMI building in Ames?
