Amen to moving VEISHA back to May, but local law enforcement can handle the duties in preventing on and off campus violence if given sufficient time to prepare. No need for Nat'l Guard troops on campus IMO.

I agree. A "bigger hammer" is not always the answer.

I hope the 'bring in the National Guard' part is an attempt at a joke. If not, you may want to check out the news to see what your National Guard does in this day and age. I guess we're just too busy with this whole longest war in American history right now to baby sit for a bunch of drunk clowns who don't know how to control themselves. Maybe I'm just being a little overly sensitive, but for people to think we have nothing better to do than to be glorified babysitters is a pretty big smack in the face.

as a taxpayer, let me say it would be a better use of money babysitting drunk college kids in Ames than ******* away billions of dollars in the middle east. safer for the National Guard also.

I'd just like to see it moved further back in April. I know that Easter messes with what dates you can pick, but the 15th is too early. That being said, the last few weekends prior to this one were really nice out. It's a crapshoot in Iowa in April.

So we actually went to school longer than you do now. We started school the first Thursday after Labor Day and Finals Week in the Spring Quarter was the last full week before Memorial Day, IIRC.

And, strangely enough, the walk to class was uphill both ways!

(And did I mention the snow...the rain... the locusts?)
