Pumped for the dual on thursday. Should be some really good matches, we are good at a lot of the same weights.

125- Mackall dec Schwarm ISU 3-0

Toss up match. Schwarm is boom or bust. Mackall has been solid all year, but hasn't been able to beat top tier guys. I will take Mackall due to consistency.

133- Gomez fall skudlardzyk ISU 9-0

Not much to say, we are much better here. It is important we get bonus points.

141- Alber dec Parker ISU 9-3

Both hard nosed wrestlers. Both beat Kaid Brock and Dom Demas in close matches on grit and gas tank. I'll give Alber the edge in West Gym.

149- Thomsen dec Degen ISU 9-6

Thomsen hasn't looked as good this year as he has the past couple of years, so I am hopeful. I still don't think its a great matchup for Degen, Thomsen is so solid I don't think he will be able to force him into scramble positions.

157- Straw dec Moore ISU 12-6

On paper Straw is the favorite but I am concerned about this match considering it is in West Gym. Moore and Straw have a couple of common opponents, Justin Thomas and Wyatt Sheets. Straw beat Sheets 3-2 while Moore lost 4-2. Both lost to Thomas in close matches.

165- Steiert maj Schumacher ISU 12-10

Need to avoid bonus. Schumacher has done a great job as a true freshman, he's going to need to keep fighting hard here.

174- Lujan dec Coleman 13-12 UNI

Coleman had a dandy of a match with Lujan at Cyclone open earlier this year. It would be huge if he can reverse the result against Lujan this time around. He has narrowed the gap every time they've wrestled, but I'm not picking the upset.

184- Foster maj Colbray 17-12 UNI

Foster dominated Colbray by TF at harold nichols earlier this year. Colbray has continued to wrestle better, I don't think Foster is that much better than him. I'll go Foster by major.

197- Miklus dec Gordon 17-15 UNI

Miklus the big favorite. This is an opportunity for bonus points, which Miklus hasn't had a ton of this year. Going Willie by dec.

Hwt- Gremmel dec Isley 18-17 ISU

I know they've wrestled several times with both guys coming out on top. Maybe I'm being a homer here but Gremmel appears to have turned a corner this season. I'm taking him by dec.

Things could go a lot of ways with close matches at 125, 141, 149, 157, 174 and Hwt. With that many close matches, I generally wouldn't like our chances of going into west gym and beating UNI. This team held up well in Stillwater and Iowa City, both hostile environments. This is the best team UNI has had in awhile. I will just be happy if ISU comes back with a W. I think that they will.

Mackall needs to avoid the nearside cradle. If he does, I think he wins
Straw I think get the decision
Colbray is much better now than early in the season. I think it will be a decision
Need bonus by Gomez and Miklus
I think Gremmel will get a decision. Isley just came back from an injury. push the pace.

!41, 149, and 174 should be fun matches to watch.

Need to avoid bonus against at 74 but I think Parker gets over the hump with Alber. Anyone else going to be at the West Gym? I’ll be there cheering on the cyclones. Hate watching meets when people are on top of each other but the atmosphere besides being squashed into seats should be great.

I’ll be there supporting the the Cyclones! It’s going to be a sauna in there.

I agree I am most worried about Coleman getting pinned as his performance has been up and down to say the least the last month. Also gets put on his back too much for comfort. I do think we win a tough battle in a hostile environment.

We are slight underdogs at 25, 41, 49, 84, and Hwt... on paper. Big favorites at 33 and 97. It's going to take a couple of upsets. They should take 65 and 74. 57 is a complete toss up.

I watched Coleman v Lujan at the Cyclone open and came away extremely impressed with Coleman. He was so close, and I thought he’d catch Lujan by the end of the year.

After the way this season has played out, I no longer think that. Now, I agree with some above that are worried about a potential pin. Coleman goes to his back way too much and Lujan has some big moves. I’ll predict a 4-5 point decision from Lujan, but would not be surprised to see a major or pin.

I give Colbray a better shot to win than I do Coleman getting the win. I think Colbray keeps it to a 2 or 3 point match and I am worried about Coleman giving up bonus points. Lujan is a guy who can put up bonus points on average wrestlers.

Have a bad feeling we're not going to win this one
125- 3-0 ISU. Mackall has been wrestling better and if he can avoid the cradle like Buf said he should win a 6-5 type match.
133- 9-0 ISU. Gomez pins.
141- 12-0 ISU. Alber has been on fire. He is bound to drop 1 finally. Parker wrestles solid and rebounds from a bad loss at Oregon State.
149- 12-3 ISU. Thomsen has had Degen's number.
157- 15-3 ISU. Sneak one out here.
165- 15-7 ISU.
174- 15-13 ISU. Going with the pin for UNI here.
184- 16-15 UNI. Foster wins 6-4.
197- 18-16 ISU. Willie gets the W but wins by 6 or 7.
HWT- 21-16. Gremmel finishes it off against Isley who should be behind the curve still.

West Gym first timer here and would really appreciate some advice. Mainly what's the best option for parking and what is around the area, preferably easy walk, to grab a quick bite before the dual. Been a while since I've been on that campus.

I'll be there. Parking is fairly easy. If you look at the map park by the Schindler building or as close as you can. West gym is next door to the south and I think the only entrance is on the east side of the west gym. You could walk to the hill for food, little bigs is the best restaurant there or the OP for pizza. The walk from the hill might be a bit long but your call. Most importantly, GET THERE EARLY. I was there 45 min before last year and was stuck in the back top behind one of those pillars. I plan to be there at 530 or so so I don't get stuck.

Awesome thanks a lot! Probably just grab something to eat on the way to save time and avoid hassle.

I’m looking forward to what will no doubt be a VERY competitive dual against UNI ( I’ll say 21–19 good guys) and perhaps another against Missouri at Hilton this weekend. Our guys have been at their collective best in these situations so far this year, and I’m optimistic that we will continue to see higher ceilings for multiple guys. A higher level of competition will be good for us going into March, and we have a very good chance of many guys exceeding their current rankings by then. I’m not sure many others see us coming.
