Register has really upped the click bait posts lately. Even Matthew Bain, who does a good job, has been posting about basketball recruits ISU has 0 shot at

He's at it again. Just can't stop himself from trying to get everybody riled up. Just can't let it drop.

Always pushing the narrative of getting Matt Campbell to the NFL. Why, Randy? Can't you come up with something original?

Not a great article and doesn't really express Randy's whole perspective on the situation. Anyone that listened to him on the KXNO this morning heard him compare Campbell to Bill Snyder. Thinks he could be at Iowa State for the long haul and genuinely has no interest in the NFL.

One of Campbell's responses to NFL questions yesterday was that at the college level he has an impact on young men, and is able to help them become better people. Campbell stated that he did not know if that was possible at the pro level.

Randy then used the example of JaQuan Bailey and what Campbell was able to do with his attitude once he arrived on campus. He thinks Campbell enjoys that aspect of coaching.

The humanity side of it, Randy probably needs this job to stay busy, most of us know the sad story of his wife passing.
But the results side of that are bad. Last night on the radio he thought Re-Al played some last year. Some of this could be because of his age, but he just isn't very good at his job, and it's too bad because he is a nice guy.

Did Randy ask the question himself? If he did then I agree with the sentiment among the rest of the posters, move on and talk about something else. If another reporter brought it up, and Randy chose to report on it, it's less of a big deal and we should be mad at the other reporter too.

I think it was MiKe Gundy of Oklahoma States press conference at big 12 media days. The second or third question was from freaking Randy Peterson asking about how they're going to handle Brock Purdy? Like wtf how about asking him about his own team and not Purdy??

I hate this guy.

If you watched the press conference you would know randy didn’t bring it up. Barry trambell (Oklahoma newspaper guy) asked Campbell directly about it at the main press conference.

Another reporter brought it up.

Who knew the sports bro bloggers CW and Blum and the guys they have hired more recently (JS, Jay Jordan, some of their interns, etc.) are providing better, more timely, more accurate, and fairer coverage than a legacy publication like the vaunted Des Moines Register.

I know where my money is going, at least.

Exactly. The Internet is making for some vast changes but it isn't all bad. The RAG is terrible and has no columnists who are even close to my viewpoints and the sports reporting is vastly better here. So, it's an easy choice to buy a subscription to CF.

There may be a few journalist organizations that specialize in unbiased reporting and investigative journalism but it's hardly like there are any media outlets left that can claim that is what they do.

The columnist's job isn't to reflect your viewpoints. It's to reflect his or hers.

I've enjoyed the stuff coming out of Big 12 Media Days, but let's not get carried away. CF is a fan site managed by fans who happen to have journalism degrees.

For sports reporting on ISU, Dylan Montz at the Ames Tribune and Alex Halsted at 247 are doing the highest quality, most consistent, professional jobs. Tommy Birch writes some interesting stories here and there for the Register.

CF is what it is, which is a forum first and foremost. Any quality posts/articles are just bonus and certainly not the standard here. And that's fine.

This is spot on. Whether you like Randy and his sidekick's style or not, you want to learn something you didn't know when reading their stuff. Rarely happens.
Agree that you can learn far more on CF. Sifting through all the crap is the unfortunate downside, however.

That article could have been summed up in a tweet but I’m not gonna crucify the guy for needing to put out content.
