Okay, I'm having a debate here. Which do you think is correct when making a statement on twitter:

A) "I'm eating at @hickorypark today!"

B) "I'm eating @hickorypark today!"


*edit: To clarify the sentence being said is "I'm eating at Hickory Park today!".

The second one annoys me when I see other people tweet that way. I don't think of saying the "at" when I read it, it's just a way to tag someone/something specific.

Agreed. The "@" in someone's Twitter handle does not replace the word "at" in a sentence.

Depends on if you are eating at Hickory Park or just eating Hickory Park. I vote A. The @ symbol could be any symbol. Twitter just picked that

Good clarification. I meant when using the word "at" before tagging a Twitter handle.

I think it depends. If you are character space challenged, the 2 characters that make up "at" can be pretty valuable.

True, but in the OP's example, 140 characters isn't even in danger of being reached.

The "at-@" reads awkwardly, but I agree it's part of the Twitter nomenclature.

While it is an unrelated piece of the twitter syntax, everything on twitter is shorthand so I take full advantage of this and do B) all the time.
