Re: Turning Point of Season

Good point I feel better. I guess I feel better because I didnt have to watch the game due to a group project, and saw this and didnt want to turn it on ;)

Except it was Mack Brown and Texas who killed us, not a Mo Valley team who hasn't been the the NCAA's in like 20 years. It doesn't really matter, though. If you lose by 1 or 30, it's still a loss. "It is what it is."

I just hope these guys respond with a win Saturday. That will stop the bleeding a little bit.

WOW! Just watching the post game interview with Keno. The Hawk fan interviewing him says he's with Keno Davidson and askes "Is this what you expected?"
I'm thinking that Keno probably expected his name to be pronounced correctly.....

I certianly hope some highschooler received broadcasting credits or something for that pathetic production. Morgan and Lookingbill? Wow. What a power tandem they are.

Doesn't get any better with McHawkasland calling the UNI game.

Gmac related conclusions

Admittedly, I am not a college coach, no where near, but some of the thing Gmac has this team doing are baffling to me.

1. We break the press with our point guard and our center in the back court? Are you kidding me? You can do that when you have a good point guard, not Brian Paterson.

2. I'll get railed for this, but Peterson should be our 4th string PG. Garret should have been the starter from day one, with Brister as his back-up. I can see why Brister made some of the comments he did while leaving. It's clear to me BP just doesn't belong, I am sure he is a good kid, but he is way in over his head. Had Brister been the number two at the point, he would still be here. Cameron Lee looked better in garbage time that Peterson has all year. Gmac's loyalty to him is baffling to me.

3. When we have the ball on the wing, with a big on the block, why the hell do we bring another guy baseline to the same side? It makes absolutely no sense to me. You have a good angle for an entry pass, then you bring another defender in from the baseline side? Terrible, terrible coaching.

4. REDSHIRT Wes. I hate saying this, because that basically is saying sorry Rashon, but we are throwing in the towel, but Wes doesn't deserve to waste a year when he can't play to his potential.

5. I remember being extremely disappointed when Gmac was announced as our head coach. Do I think Wayne needed to go? Yes. Did we make the right hire? Unfortunately, now I am not sure.

I am sure I am going to get railed for these comments. I am certainly not throwing in the towel, but tonight's game was very, very disturbing.

My word, you are reading my mind. This is exactly how I feel as well. Diante Garrett gets yanked the minute he makes a mistake, BP continues to start and is clearly in over his head. I remember that recruiting was a huge concern and frankly, still is. You can't win with the likes of BP and Sean Haluska starting.

1. Agree
2. Garrett should be on the court 'til he fouls out
3. Terrible coaching??? or execution?!
4. Agree..get him off the court. imagine how frustrated he must be
5. I was too, and I heard it from Gary Thompson before it was announced at DSM airport. He asked who I thought it was, I said Jeter, he wondered why I thought that and told me it was McD. It was an absolute no-brainer for him and apparently Pollard as well...that's good enough for me. This hire was made to restore the stability of the program in the long term..NOT to do great things (at a cost) in the short term. Mac's the right guy for that....it just takes more than a year and a half, after what we've been through.

I agree tufnel, this thing is going to take time. I know nobody likes to hear that, but if you just think this way you won't want to hit something every night. College isn't like professional sports, you can't bring in a new coach and players and compete right away. I know there are exceptions but this is where we are at.

Yeah things were pretty rough under Morgan, you know... winning most of the preseason games, finishing in the middle of the conference. Going to the postseason. It was horrible.

Morgan needed to go. His brand of street ball was not what we need at ISU. Just because Gmac isn't delivering, doesn't mean Morgan was.

Looking at the boxscore, one Drake player outscored our starters. Garret was 0-5. 21 turnovers. Poor rebounding. They shot their 3 pointers as well as we shot free throws. Craig had the most fieldgoals at three.

Obviously, who can make a bucket on our team? Ths looks like worse than Colorado played last year.

Good points Hos. I agreed with the decision to fire Wayne based on the product on the court. But if we are now going to use the patience card, that is a double standard. Wayne had three years and finished his time at ISU with a winning record. GM is not on pace to even equal Wayne's accomplishments. Not recommending anything, just saying...

I never thought I would see this program fall this far. Dedric, Kelvin, Marcus, Jamall, Kantrail, Fred, Justus, Jeff, and Jeff are probably all scratching their heads wondering how what they built could fall apart to this level.
