Holiday Station Stores. They had a little bit of everything. Although I think I did see one in Nebraska a few years back.
Side story- when I was a jr in HS I had a senior friend whose college gf worked at the local Holiday. She would let us buy beer. One night after a baseball game, still with our unis on, we were walking out with a case of Schlitz. Right as our head coach was walking in. He just pointed to his car and said “Just put it in the back seat guys.” We briefly discussed whether he was serious but ultimately decided he was.
Was this the same as Holiday Gas Station? It was one of the only places open on Christmas when I was a teenager. My brother worked there on Christmas one year. They made a fortune on battery sales alone that day!

Testifying
The large ShopKo stores were alright. The former Pamida stores were basically stocked with all the secondary junk that wouldn't sell anywhere else. Sounds like private investors bought the stores, loaded them with debt to pay themselves, couldn't find a buyer, said "screw it" and liquidated.

Seems like there's a lot of Shopko Opticals out there.

I worked at the Pamida in Sheldon. The only thing I recall is myself and someone who I worked with, we opened all the pop bottles in the back to see if we could get good basketball teams under the cap. I think if your team on the cap won you won some crappy prize. I am pretty sure I had a Duke cap in 95 Neither of us won nothing. Also during the mid 90's you could win stuff from buying Pepsi stuff If I recall. And the final four balls from Pizza Hut.

Pepsi points you collected them and sent them in I got myself a sweatshirt from that promo.

I would score my Star Wars figures at a department store called Ardans around 82-83 in Sioux City.

I’m quite sure it didn’t last much longer than that.

Yes same thing I’m sure. It may have been that the ones branded as ‘Station Stores’ carried a lot more stuff. Fishing gear, ammo, guns, clothing, live bait, stuff like that at our local one. I do know there were others that were smaller.
