Just got the email. Looks like they're going to switch over to the cards this year barring another flood destroying their equipment. Looks like they're doing it for FB and MBB. Guess this means I have to buy my fiance regular tickets to get in...

Oh, good. You'd think with the fact that they have people monitoring these boards theyd get the idea that people think this is a horrible idea.

My card doesn't even work when I use it for my meal plan at the dining centers. I can only imagine the things that will likely go wrong with this new "ticket" system.

It's a good idea if they want a more accurate count of how many seats to allot for students when the south end zone project gets underway.

"Football
Student entrance to Jack Trice Stadium is through Gate 2. Students must present their valid ISU Card to be scanned for admission."

That sucks that you will only be able to enter through one gate.....

And makes it even harder for students to resell their tickets. People wonder why there are always holes in the student sections, and a big part is because its a giant pain in the *** for students vs everyone else (especially so for MBB where you cant sell a seat in the lower level without also giving them your shirt). Putting the tickets on the ISU Cards will make it even harder as you will not just be able to sell them (or even give them away) outside JTS\hilton (as i recall they have an online method, but thats not something you can do on gameday).

If they just wanted a count, they can still scan regular tickets, which i believe they are adding to this year too (get ready for longer lines everyone). Those tickets are all identifiable so you can tell what's being used.

Also, ISU will never get a good count anyways for student tickets as long as there are 2 general admission options (student and hillside) to get into the stadium. Especially when student tickets cost more than hillside, the smart students are buying hillside and moving into the student section.

If you look here, Student Tickets - Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - The home of Iowa State Cyclone Sports it gives you the option of printing your ticket for a two dollar fee if your card is damaged, as well as the option to forward tickets to friends electronically

And if they had the tickets the same as everyone else you could do both of those (its an option for all ISU season ticket holders), as well as have the tickets you normally would have that you can give away or sell at the stadium with no additional costs (or a computer) involved.
