Ohio State's close victory over Maryland kept their hopes temporarily alive, but wasn't that influential so it was at #10. Ohio State's victory over Michigan knocked Michigan out. Purdue beating Ohio State knocked Ohio State out. Alabama didn't really have many close calls, Clemson's only close games were Syracuse and Texas A&M which are both included, Notre Dame didn't really have many game-defining plays other than a subpar touchdown pass against Pitt with around 6 minutes left in the game. Not sure why 3 of the top 10 involve Ohio St when they didn’t get into the playoff?
I guess Alabama and Clemson glowing out almost everyone leaves few highlights for them?
If anything... the only play featuring Ohio State that had any effect in the CFP was the one from the Purdue game that kept them out. Them winning games to stay in the conversation did not effect the CFP at all per the original OP.Ohio State's close victory over Maryland kept their hopes temporarily alive, but wasn't that influential so it was at #10.
