BSU only recently joined the MWC because they saw it as the best way to improve their chances of earning BCS bids. If a CUSA/Mountain West merger has a means of making that chance an AQ bid, what reason would they have to go to the Big East, particularly if it is an open question whether or not the new Big East will be AQ?

Sounds like the CUSA/MWC conference will likely operate like two leagues, except in football which will hold a championship game, hopefully for the AQ bid. If true, there would be little change for most teams most of the time.
They may be the first to 18 if 4 leave. If they go to 22, how do the football schedule play out? Ten conference games?

Nope. Probably 8 conference games in a rotation, just like the Big 10 did when they had eleven teams. There's no real need for nine games at that level, it doesn't improve the inventory much for TV purposes or create a round robin situation. Eight games allows for scheduling flexibility to schedule more patsies to increase conference win percentage which will be a plus where they are in the grand scheme of things. It's possible the two conferences wouldn't integrate in football at all except for the championship game.

We'll have to wait for the details on that.

I will predict that conferences go to 9 conference games within 5 years. Too many dog games to show on TV. Playing UNI is not captivating for TV although it may sell out the house. When they played a season of 11 games, there was only three non conference games.

Every conference has different motivations. 9 conference games for TV is important in a league like the Big 12, which has major TV contract obligations. But is it the same for teams in the MWC or CUSA? With the exception of Boise State, they usually only get slotted for national TV once or twice a year, if that. Scheduling for the benefit of TV might take a back seat to other factors.

If the Big 12 calls Louisville and WV they would be in yesterday. Big 12 would give them the 20 million for their exist fees from A&M's exit fees.

I think that when the Big East announces their invites, we'll see the Big XII poach off Lville and UWV. This way the Big East can use the prestige of those two schools to lure others into their dark star of a conference before being torn to shreds.

for the most part we only had 7 Big 8 games when we only played 11 games.

MWC and Conference USA making a football only alliance

This expansion **** is just destroying any semblance of what college football was and its destroying college basketball, but apparently no one gives a **** about basketball.

This. It's ruining the traditions and rivalries and all for money and jealousy (TAMU with the LHN).

I got a email on realignment. Expect Missouri to withdraw from the BigXII at the end of next week take it FWIW

Bye-bye. "The grass is always greener on the OTHER side of the fence."

Hope the SEC works out for you. Good luck.

With the ISU game all but over, I thought I'd look around for any realignment info. Sounds like the only way Mizzou can get the votes for the SEC is if they join the SEC east.

Alabama would support adding Missouri if those Tigers, not Auburn, play in the East | al.com

Hello yearly trips to...

Athens, GA
Knoxville,TN
Nashville, TN
Columbia, SC
Lexington, KY
Gainsville, FL

And they'd rarely see the one school that is remotely close to them (Arkansas).

I assume A&M would be their protected rivalry, so they closest any game would ever be for them is about 7.5 hours away.

Hello, Atlanta for BB tournaments too.

I just can't imagine how desperate MU would be to leave the Big 12 for the SEC east. You talk about destroying all rivalries, and making travel nearly impossible for fans. Oh wait, Mizzoulander would say that MU never travels anyways, so their fans will watch the games on TV whether they're 3-4 hours away or 12 hours away.

Good to see you again, Boomer. How u feeling' after beating Texas and yet still being their *****? Sad, isn't it? You have a better pedigree and a better team this year and they still call the shots over you.

Their recruiting would shift to the southeast and to florida at that point.

Hello Mr. Florida recruit, how'd you like to play in the SEC east with Missouri? It's only a 17 hour drive, and we play 1 game in Florida every other year!

To all you other Texas kids still on our team, we now play in College Station every other year...I know its a far cry from 2 Texas games each year, but your family can come watch you play twice during your college career! I know its not 8 times, but its better than nothing!
