As bad as our offense has been, the defense has actually been worse - although not by much. On offense we rank 8th in scoring and yards per game and 9th in yards per play in the conference. On defense we rank last in scoring and yards per game and 9th in yards per play.

Lets say our defense played out of their absolute minds and held baylor to 21 points! We still lose. 21-7. Until our offense gets a clue, talking about the defense is pointless.

I have a question? Since other teams seem to always know what is coming for instance like another poster said 2nd and 1 is almost always a zone read or just a straight run up the middle, why doesn't the QB check out of that play when they stack the box and go to a quick slant or and outside fade route if there's single coverage? Do our coaches not trust sam to make that adjustment? I don't understand why we line up and run whatever play even when the defense shows their hand... if they stack the box and have obvious blitzers we're just like screw it, lets run right into em... It might work...

Our QBs don't check out of plays on their own. If they do anything, they bring everyone up and look to the sidelines. Everyone here probably has seen a high school team with a QB that has the ability to audible. Most of them will have two or three calls for each the run and the pass they can make at the LOS and go to it. That's the part that's so damn frustrating. Somehow our offensive coaches have managed to make the simple, basic things look almost impossible. That's just utterly damning of Mess. I've seen all I need from this guy and really, really wish he would just keep is trap shut at this point. It's beyond embarrassing. It's pulverizing to the already low morale of the team.
