I'm one of the biggest Tiger fans you'll ever find, but it's getting old watching him give golf courses too much respect all the time. There's always some excuse lately. He always says what a grind it is out there and how difficult the course is playing, blah, blah, blah, but what he doesn't seem to understand is that other players are playing the same course.

I think Paul Azinger nailed it today when he says that it seems Tiger has lost the "fun" of playing golf and now it always looks like it's a job to him. I wish he could get back to the days of just really enjoying himself out there. Always attacking. Beating guys by 10 shots. Embarrassing golf courses and making them look easy.

I think the combination of the major drought plus the pressure of Jack's record is getting to him. Five years ago when he beat Rocco at the U.S. Open for his 14th major, it was mere formality that he was going to smash Jack's record of 18. Well five years later he's still stuck on 14 and his game has slipped from what it once was and the window on Jack's record is closing with each passing year.

I think in his prime he used to show up to majors and be like yeah I'm going to win this thing, nobody can beat me. I think now the longer the drought goes, he shows up thinking i HAVE to win this and he cracks under the pressure

Now all he does, major after major, is complain about how difficult the course is, what a grind it is, etc, etc. It's just getting old IMO.

I've never been a huge Mickelson guy, but I'm glad he won today. I wanted an American to win it. I didn't want Lee Westwood to win. And I can't stand Adam Scott and Stevie Williams either, so I was happy they choked too. Even though I'm not a huge Mickelson guy, I think he really is a good, decent, family guy and I really respect that.

Newsflash to Tiger - courses wouldn't be so much of a grind if you'd hit some damn fairways once in a while. How many times on the back 9 today did they cut to Woods hitting his 2nd (and sometimes 3rd) shot out of knee high rough.

Tiger's biggest problem is when he was dominant he was the only one who was even CLOSE to his talent level. That's not the same story now. He laid out the blue print for the "new" style of golfer...an athlete, not just a guy with a strong golf swing. Missing fairways has always been a problem for him. "Tiger Proofing" courses wasn't making fairways skinnier but more making the rough thicker/longer. Where he was able to get away with missing fairways in the past and recover he's killing himself now.

That and his short game isn't nearly what it used to be. He looks completely lost with his sand wedge in his hands. What used to be knocked within 10 feet pretty consistently is now being knocked to 15 and leaving long birdie putts when he gets that far.

Tiger's short game and putting is the problem. He kept the ball in the fairway pretty well this week, as he has all season. I think he has spent so much time working on his swing changes and coming back from injuries that his short game has suffered. His inability to get up and down the last two days along with multiple 3 putts in each round on the weekend are what did him in. He putted very well the first two days, but the inconsistency showed up on the weekend and cost him a chance at winning. Anymore, winning a major is all about who putts the best that week, and that has not been Tiger. Mickelson even said it was probably the best putting round of his career. On Saturday, Westwood had an insane round on the greens which gave him his 2 shot lead. Tiger's swing is fine now, he hit the ball as well as anyone all week and is probably the best iron player in the game again. He has also hit his driver better this year when he's chosen to use it. I think if he gets his short game figured out he'll win the PGA championship in a few weeks.

I think you are missing the point a little. Tiger won 8 from 1997-2002 and has been hammered for his apparent lack of wins since 2004 when he has won 6. Phil has only won 5 since 2004 and those are his only major wins. (Hardly a dominant stretch)

Edit Tiger won 12 from 1997-2006

Is there someone on here that is trying to say Phil has had a better career than Tiger? Why do you keep trying to compare the two?

It was a great tournament. Not sure if we will ever see the "great Tiger Woods" again. However he is still one of the best players (like him or not, i personally can't stand him), however like Lee Trevino said - when he was playing there were 8 guys that could win the majors. In 2013 20-30 players have the ability to win any of the majors, the competetion is getting really tough.

Do feel bad for Westwood ******* it down his leg again, i think he is a really good guy and i hope he can win one before his career is up.
