I think on the other map the SW & Cali appear to be the safest ... followed by the midwest

It get pretty hot around here in the summer. I'm from the west coast and I would say the weather in Washington is far better, and safer then the weather in Iowa. The only reason the numbers might be higher would be because of mountains (which Iowa doesn't have) or ocean (which Iowa doesn't have).

They weren't leaving in Iowa this year. All the tornadoes, lighting, flooding, extreme arctic cold snaps, blizzards and ice, and heat waves (in other years-1988 etc.), make the Midwest safe. Earthquakes are not weather related. The reason we make it though it is Midwesterners are more resilient and can deal with the weather. We don't perish as often as they do in other regions of the Country. The report is a joke.
