Dusty, from 35" mudder is a buddy of mine. I talked to him last month and he was thinking about getting the boys back together to do a couple shows. No idea if it has legs. May have been the beer talking.

Despite the overlap in membership, it's rare that you find someone who likes both SlipKnot and Stone Sour. Plain and simple they are two different bands with two completely different sounds.

Not like Alice in Chains/Mad Season or Tool/A Perfect Circle.

Oh so very true. I've been a slipknot fan for some good time now, but I really really struggle to enjoy Stone Sour. Not saying they don't have a couple of songs that I like, but with Slipknot, I love everything they've done.

how about c.w. mccall and his convoy? i think that was in the top 100 1 hit wonders ever. i think the dude is from pisgah iowa.

Actually, I believe the guy (can't remember his real name but it is not CW McCall) behind "Convoy" is from Omaha and he is also the guy behind Mannheim Steamroller.

When I first got to ISU the Daily ran a feature saying that Slipknot and 35 Inch Mudder were about to hit it big. A few months later Slipknot's album went platinum and I have to idea what happened to Mudder but a lot of people said they were better.

I'd also forgotten about Mr. Plow. I remember when they left Iowa to move to California or something.

I have been trying to think of the most commercially successful music artist(s) to come out of Iowa. I don't believe any of the names (most of which I have never heard of) here would qualify. Didn't Don and Phil Everly (The Everly Brothers) from back in the 50s and 60s hail from somewhere in SE Iowa...Red Oak possibly? Is there another act that would be bigger than they were from Iowa?

I would go with Slipknot, Mindrite (can't believe someone mentioned them before me for once), Stone Sour's pretty good, and Four Word Cause isn't bad.

Anyone else remember The Sundogs right around 1990 at ISU?

I loved this band! Many a night I would partake in the consumption of way too many adult beverages and their music. Anyone know what happened to them? I take it they were all students or something and just broke up after school.
