I hope you got a chance to see Avatar at the movie theater in 3D. If not you missed out.

Since you liked Departed and you are catching up on old movies here are some good ones you should check out. These will keep you on edge.
Shooter (with Mark Walburg)
The Kingdom (Jaime Fox)

I though Slum Dog Millionaire was very good movie also.

I saw Avatar in 3d and I did not like it. I know I seem to be in the minority but I was not big on the political message. I have seen Shooter and I liked that movie. Wahlberg is one of those sneaky good actors, he has been in some great stuff.

I will have to check out The Kingdom. I have like some of Foxx's other stuff.

Gotta love Family Video! $1 rentals for 5 nights and free movies for the kids. Everyone wins!

I got the Departed DVD as a gift and I was not impressed at all. The acting was pretty good, but I thought it was way too graphic, just for the sake of being graphic. Reminded me of some of the big block buster movies like the 'Dark Night', where they spent way more time trying to figure out how to blow something up than in developing a story or a character. The Departed was the same way with violence and swearing. If was like the director had some quota for we need to swear X number of times and graphical kill Y people, and then just forced the parameters into the movie.

Oh no, not the political message! Just try to go to the movie and not seek the secret liberal political agenda, Michael Medved.

What next, the "I'm supposed to cheer when U.S soldiers are killed", line?

If you can't take being hit by something as board as corporation-bad, natives-good, I'd suggest seeking alternate entertainment options.
