Recommend a new root beer that may not be well known, but is very good. Or maybe your favorite is well know, what is it?

I've always been told to try this stuff, but I have yet to ever find any. I may just purchase some online. Anyone had?

as for cheap canned rootbeer, I prefer Mug. A&W is great. I love the root beer at Culver's. Least favorite other than generic brands is Barq's.

Here's my personal favorite:

as far as gas stations pop, I stick with Mug. Barqs is ok, but it's almost a different flavor than what you expect out of a root beer

My favorite is Sprecher out of Milwaukee. It's widely available and comes in BIG BOTTLES. Thumbs up.

I also really enjoyed Dorothy's which is out of Ely, MN and has a GREAT backstory to accompany a superb rootbeer.

You can buy it off the shelves if you are emerging from the BWCA, or you can buy it online.

Olde Main brews their own. By far my favorite. I think it's called Red Monkey Root beer. Not sure if you can get it anywhere but there.

Truly Sprecher is the best. You can get it in Ames at Jeff's Pizza.

Me and some friends do an annual trip to Milwaukee for a Brewer's game and the Sprecher brewery tour. The tour is $3 and has free samples of some great beers and all the soda you can drink. If you're ever in the Milwaukee area it's a great place to check out.

Rodchester Root Beer. Only place I have found it is at the Nutty Bar Stand in Okoboji. Best Damn Root beer I have had.

FYI -- Rochester Root Beer is what Culver's serves. It's just rebranded as "Culver's Root beer"

ALSO, Hickory Park serves Rochester root beer.

is only the sprecher from menards good? or would it still be good if I picked some up in Milwaukee, where it's actually made?

sprecher is very good, as are many of the "micro brew" root beers out there. they just seem to have a better flavor than your barqs/A&W fountain drinks. look at me, I'm like a regular root beer snob! does everyone not drink their root beers with their pinky out?

Heineken.

Oh wait, you said root beer.

Seriously, though — I loved Frostie when I was a kid. I don't know where it's available (or even if it still is).

I might just be associating it with childhood. You know, when whatever you encounter (music, toys, soft drinks) is automatically the best thing ever.
