My husker buddies have said Thompson’s camp believes he can go pro after 1 year & maybe Purdy is fine with that then taking over 2023. I think it comes down to how badly he wants Whipple to develop him. For all we know, the visit is still on but that changes Monday but if he visits, he’ll probably register for classes.
You lost me with ”my husker buddies.” I saw Thompson play with 5 star talent at Texas. He’s not a terrible qb - I think his struggles largely had to do with Texas. But there’s no way he goes pro at least in a relatively hugh draft round after next year. No way he’s got a better chance than Kedon Slovis with all of Pitt’s weapons and the fact that Slovis is seemingly better. Chubba went on an official visit to Pitt and I heard got an offer from OU, and I think he’s definitely more likely to start in 2023 at both those places than nebraska. And even if he doesn’t, they both are miles better than nebraska. Screw OU tho

Lol that’s what THOMPSON’S CAMP believes & I’m sure Nebraska has patted him on the back with it, a lot of players have that mindset. Again, it really comes down to how much he wants Whipple to coach him & if Thompson cant get an NFL grade, Purdy can just transfer to OU or Pitt to start in 2023 if he’s destined to ride pine in ‘22 at all 3 schools.

Pitts OC Whipple is now at Nebraska, maybe counting on him bringing the same magic from Pitt?
