Been pondering one aspect of the team lately, and I'm curious to get some other opinions on it. That aspect is physical conditioning and manipulating it to our advantage.

Tired teams get out of position and foul. Tired teams miss shots and free throws late. Tired people in general tend to lose the will to compete.

Our roster composition is built on smaller players, on average. We run like mad. It seems that has to be part of the system, as the Clones run opposing big men into oblivion while ISU seems to have their stride even late in the game.

I understand conditioning plays a factor in any sport, but it appears on the surface to me that Fred's system and personnel are built to exploit this. I'm curious to see how our freshmen hold up as their conditioning tends to be lacking with their first season with this volume of games.

Talent doesn't mean as much when it is gasping for air while grasping its knees.

Anyone with any insider connections know about their conditioning program?

Seems to me we are as conditioned as any of the teams we have played, so I think we are in good shape.

They do yoga too don't they? Doesn't that build quite a bit of mental toughness?

Agreed. However I remember the altitude seemingly taking it's toll on us in Provo....our guys were shot in that one. Still can hardly believe we got that W.
