We're planning to go to Morgantown for our first time this year. Looking for any tips - all options are on the table. We'll be driving the RV, but I'd rather not park in their big RV lot (1) because it's 1+ mi west of the stadium (2). I assume the blue lot (3) will be the center of the activity, but there's also a closer RV lot (4) that's probably high dollar on the secondary market.

What's been your experience?

Went a few years ago and parked in the blue RV lot. Parked when it opened Friday afternoon. And it was a nonstop party until we left after the disappointing loss that year. Everyone is super friendly and the moonshine will be offered within minutes of you parking your vehicle. Another bit of advise, go to Kegglers sports bar. Lots of friendly locals who were very welcoming to out of towners. Lastly refrain from eating a pepperoni roll if you get offered one. Unless you like processed meat rolled up in undercooked dough

Blue lot for sure.
Get ready to be handed some shine.

WV has a great fan base.
This is a true fact. Great fans and the tailgating is similar to Jack Trice, in fact their stadium is similar. Went to an old dive bar east of campus the night before with my wife & all geared up with ISU garb. We were surprised by the welcoming attitude of the WVU fans.

The WV stadium and JTS are sister stadiums, designed around the same basic plan, but each has changed with additions. If you get a chance to go to a WV game their fan base is a lot like ISU, offering plenty of food and moonshine.

WVU fans are the best in college football. Seriously.

Someone bought our wings and a few pitchers of beer at Kegler’s. Just cause we had ISU gear on. Later the night we sang “Country Roads” at Sports Page in our ISU gear and didn’t pay for a drink the rest of the night.
Yeah we went to Keglars Friday before game and had a great time.

I know this is about tailgating, but everything everyone has said is spot on. WVU is a great road game. If you go, try to sit in sections 99-101. That's the ISU section. It's a great time, and there are lots of players families there. One year we were right behind Joe Scates mom when he scored his first career td. We all went crazy and she was crying. One of my favorite ISU game memories.

For those of you who have purchased parking passes around the stadium. A lot of the ticket reseller websites list the lot color and then say "row parking". Are their assigned rows or once you are in the lot you can park anywhere?
Also it looks like the purple and gold lots are about a 15 minute walk to the stadium. Is that accurate?

We parked in the Green lot, and you parked wherever you wanted in the lot when we went out 4 years ago.

Morgantown is still on my bucket list. Was hoping to go this year but between a Disney vacation already and the guys I was planning to do the trip with not being able to (one is already saving for Ireland next year) guess it will have to wait a few more years. Ran into some WVU fans in the Denver airport this summer that said they were taking trips to baseball parks. They saw my I-State stuff and gave me a thumbs up and asked if I was making the road trip to the game this year. Told them it's on my wish list eventually, asked them if they had been to Ames yet and they basically said the same thing. Between their stadium being similar to JTS and their fan base having the same kind of passion to I've heard nothing but good things about how fun the trip is there from people that have went.

Great road trip and a great fan base to share a Saturday with, much like ISU very giving and welcoming. They all kept saying "you drove all the way from Iowa to see a game here?"
Looking forward to going again, hopefully in a couple of years.

I have never been there and would love to go, based on what you are all telling me.

We're headed there, hitting up Indiana Dunes State Park, Cuyahoga Valley and Shenandoah National Park while staying at Deep Creek Lake State Park. Are there any other recommendations to hit up on the way there and back?

If I didn’t attend ISU I always thought WVU would’ve been a fun school to go to.

The closest I have ever been to Morgantown is when I stayed the the Greenbrier in White Sulfur Springs.

Got my masters from WVU (online during COVID) and am very much looking forward to attending my first game at Milan Puskar in a few weeks! Definitely following this thread for advice. Bringing my buddy who is just an overall college football fan, so should be a good time!

Great thread! There are 9 of us that travel to 1 away game a year and WVU won this year. We fly into Pitt mid day Thursday and flyout Sunday. We got a VRBO in Morgantown and will look for other Cyclones when we are out there. I, too, am interested in hearing more about parking. The purple lot is sold out and they told me the gold lot is the only one that you can buy single game passes for due to this. Where is everyone finding passes on the secondary market? I tried StubHub, recommended by the WVU ticket off, and couldn't find anything.
