I haven't had the urge to spend the money on a really nice surround sound because i hate having to run the wire and try to hide it in my living room. Anyways i was at WalMart today and noticed a sound bar. Has anyone had any experience with this type of setup?

I've been thinking about doing something like this too for the same reason. Haven't done any research yet though. Let us know what you come up with.

I can say that wireless is the way to go, at least if you can find one or more components that are wireless. I have wired front, center, and subwoofer with wireless rear speakers and it is so much nicer than running wires all over the place.

Before purchasing the speakers I own, I remember looking at the sound bars and they seemed to produce some nice sound, especially if your living area is relatively small.

My living area isn't all that big but has a vaulted ceiling. Would that be an issue?

the way the make it seem on the box is that it would clip on the top of the TV. if i didn't want to mount it on the wall above the tv would it be ok just to set it on my tv stand so it is directly below the tv or would that mess with the sound?

That shouldn't be an issue. I installed a Yamaha YSP-1000 soundbar in my dad's new house in his great room. It has a vaulted ceiling and also an open loft above, behind the couch. It sound great!

i recently picked up the yamaha YSP-900 sound bar through a rewards program and love it. i have an odd shaped room so the auto calibration is a big plus, and the surround sound still blows my mind since it's only one speaker. watching games sounds like i'm in a large sports bar with tv's all over. definitely recommend it for simplifying your room and wires/speakers
