The large circle bar with only 3 bartenders doesn't work. I personally stood right up to the bar at the beginning of half-time and missed six minutes of the 3rd quarter before I got served. Either have more bartenders or lines starting at the card readers. 3 bartenders have no way of knowing who is next and to stand there and think it has got to be me next, only to wait another half an hour plus, is frustrating. Still tipped the bartender. It wasn't his fault. But come management, this is the same problem every year. Get more help in there!

According to the AD it's impossible to find help these days because we're all lazy pieces of crap that don't want to work for a reasonable wage, so you're going to have to wait 45 minutes for your drink and like it.

Where we were standing at one of those, the main reason we waited so long was because a tall pushy man bellied up through the women in his group and ordered 10 drinks. His movement alone caused the female bartender to look at him. She asked how many people in his group, he said 5. He was flashing at least one $50 and one $100 bill, even though he couldn’t pay with them. When we finally got attention to be served, we paid and slid the card reader to the gal next to us who’s been waiting as long as we had. As we walked away and she was being served, another man next to where big spender and crew had been slammed his hand on the bar too. I guess he didn’t like waiting in line either.
Overall, yes, twice as many bartenders are needed. Sure wish you could tip in cash.

I guess I don't understand that if you only have 3 bartenders, why not have three lines formed with three rope stanchions to keep it orderly. Letting everyone circle the area and yell at the bartenders for attention is poor management.

I also noted in this first year of non-cash, there is a default tip of 18% when they turn the payment device towards you. Noice!

is $8/hr attractive for a bar that doesnt accept cash? genuine question
How do they treat tips? Pool I would think as cards are the only currency, and does the management company take a cut (or all) of the tips. Since they are on card, they will be on a W2. My guess is 8 bucks an hour is not attractive, unless tips double the net take home.

So you stood in line for a half hour and missed much of the 3rd quarter, all for an overpriced beer?

Bartenders are probably making decent money on gameday, but it's once a week, every other week. If I'm a bartender in Ames and my choices are bartending in a cashless stadium or in a cash accepting bar on Welch...It's cash every single time.

It's been like this since day 1 in there. Fastest beers are at the side concession stands but they also messed around and got rid of cans there this year. I've said it before and it's obvious, Pollard absolutely hates selling beer in the games. It's ridiculous. They have the same number of workers in there as every other year, Pollard really needs to lighten up on the crap about people not wanting to work and just own his f ups.

Why would ANYONE do that for $8/hr.. This country really needs to do away with tipping and just pay a better wage.. I shouldn't need to give a $1 tip to twist off a bottle cap...

Well, that would have kept the Hawkeye fans from buying food and eating it while standing at the bar, I suppose.
