What I did was wait until Penny's had their 50% off sale. It's not top of the line quality, but my suit looks very nice even after I've worn it. I just take it to the dry cleaners every couple times.

Watch out for what the suits are made of. Poly Blends and synthetic materials will get a shine to them as they are worn. This makes them look cheap and won't last as long. Many places like Younkers and JC Pennys are blended materials. I would advise you yo buy a wool suit or something with a high wool percentage in it.

I don't know if they are still having the sale, but I was in Dillards last Saturday and they had a bunch of suits 50% off and then you got an additional 40% off of that price. I'm a 46 Long so didn't find much there, but if you are a common size there were definitely some great deals to be had.

Duh!
To make them last longer, don't dry clean a suit anymore than you have to. It is too hard on the fabric and will remove the nature oils, etc. Have the cleaner press your suit as needed. You can always spot clean a suit with a damp cloth. Get a fabric brush too, so that link and dust can be removed and you can keep the fabric looking nice. After you have worn one, hang it outside of your closet overnight to let it breathe; before returning it to the closet. Hang them on curved hanger so that the jacket will keep its shape. They say to hang pants by the cuffs to let them breathe, but I don't have the room to do that.

If you are not wearing them regularly, get a suit bag to keep the dust from creating a line across the shoulders where it rests on the hanger.

Men's warehouse has been great to me in Des Moines. I buy 10-15 suits a year, as I wear them everyday. I have bought from JC Penny's, Dillards, Younkers. All of those suits are nice and fit me right off the rack. You can catch some good sales at those places. For the money I would use Men's warehouse. The suits I buy there last a little longer and don't cost a helluva alot more.

I have 30 in my closet. Very nice, but I recently changed jobs and whoo hoo (in Johnny's voice) I don't have to wear them any more. I'm very rough on my clothes. My wife says I'm a clutz. So I only buy them off the sale rack at Dilliards at Jordan Creek or Younkers at Merle Hay. About 2 or three times per year those two stores will run something like 40 or 50% off the clearance price. Styles are pretty decent, quality is excellent and the prices are ridiculous. Then when I ruin one I don't feel so bad.

FYI - Sarto is going out of business out in West Glen. The suit were still really expensive after 60-80% off. But, I don't know much about suits. They could be really really nice. I looked at button down shirts for Ripvdub. The ones I liked were still $90 after the discount. They did have some for $40ish too.

If you are around there, it might not be bad to stop in.
