Stats breakdown of Iowa State QB's since 1960

All ISU QB's who have thrown more than 100 passes (except Sam Richardson) are listed and compared to each other on: passing completion percentage, TD-Int. Ratio and quarterback rating. To me, some of these stats were very surprising, one cyclone compared to another. I will acknowledge that college football passing games have undergone radical development over this 53 year time period. So, comparing a 2010 QB to a 1961 QB is a little like comparing apples and oranges. But, the bottom line is still the same, completions, touchdowns over interceptions (and wins of course) are the name of the game. Also, there is no attempt to compare quarterbacks running abilities/statistics. So, with all of these givens, just try and enjoy the comparisons. I think you will be surprised. The most recent quarterbacks fare very well, in relation to their peers. I found it very surprising that George Amundson was so low. http://iowastateqb.homestead.com/

It's never been done before but the game has changed too. A lot more short, easy passes. To be a successful team in the Big 12 with our offense 60-65% might be necessary.

The game has definitely changed. A quick Google search shows this:

Terry Bradshaw (HOF) had a career % of 51.9%
Tony Romo (middle of the road QB) is 64.7%
Vince Young (NFL Bust) is better than TB at 57.9%

Different offensive philosophy and the outlaw of defense has changes ball

I'll never forget the OU game at Jack Trice where Oberg and Lester had their way with the Sooners. Unfortunately the defense couldn't stop them.

we all know our offense needs to score points. If SB is the QB for the next two years and we score 30ppg over that span figuring 40% of scoring is from TD Passes (just an estimate what do you think?) that's 12ppg so 2 td passes per game. Not even figuring in possible bowl games he would be our career TD leader by 10th game of his Jr year. Please let that happen.
