Standing for the Whole Game

I got told to sit down yesterday too...I didnt even look back or say anything i just kept standing and yelling and cheering for the Clones. I understand i was on the 50 yard line 3 rows up, but come on....

Last year in College Station a young boy (probably around 10 or 12) decided to sit down in the middle of the 3rd quarter. His own father heckled him until he stood back up.

It was awesome.

Wow, I cant believe how angry people are AT OTHER CYCLONE FANS. Do you ever think that people stand becuase that's just their style of cheering and not just to make you feel like they are better than you.

I stand because honestly I love the game so much that I am literally too excited to sit down. I don't do it all the time but there are many times during the game that I realize that I am standing and didn't even remember standing up (this even happens when I am sober). I try to look behind me in these times to see if I am annoying someone and if I am I sit back down but I cant guarantee that I'm not going to stand back up later. Last year at the bowl game I stood almost the whole time and nobody else in my section did. Luckily I had a aisle seat so I slid over so that I wasn't standing directly in front of me. Unfortunately at JTS that isn't possible for me.

I try to be respectful of eveyone at the game but at the end of the day I am just excited to be at the game because I love football and I LOVE THE CYCLONES!!!!!

My simple solution was: stand and make noise when we're on defense, sit when we're on offense.

On a side note, people need to learn when to cheer. Too many times did the people around me cheer and make noise on first and second down, then get quiet on third. Or even worse, made noise and cheered when we're on offense.

Auburn/Alabama: Fans stood whole game.

Texas A&M: Fans stand.

Three elite programs over time mentioned here. Common theme: Fans stand. Coincidence? I think not.

This...I can't sit still (I constantly sway back and forth) even when I am standing because I am so excited and get so emotionally involved in every play. I don't have a voice by the end of every game. To each their own whether they want to sit or stand but I am going to stand. I pay for my season ticket every year and I am going to enjoy my favorite team play my favorite sport by standing and yelling my lungs out. I have the same seat every year, if you don't like the section you sit in change your seats. I can't just can't wrap my head around fans that get upset about other fans standing to cheer on the same favorite team. I guess people will always find something to ***** about no matter what the situation or circumstance.

Wow. Lots of passion in this discussion.

Standing for the entire length of a game when people around you are asking you to sit down makes you a jerk (unless you're in the student section).

Sitting for the length of a game doesn't make someone any less of a fan. Some people choose to enjoy the game sitting down. Not everyone is a stand until your legs fail, and scream until you're hoarse type of fan. While you may not like it, you should at least respect it.

And don't tell me they shouldn't be at the game if that's the way they want to watch. Last time I checked we could use the fans in the stands. A quiet, sitting fan is still a million times better than an empty seat. As long as they're a Cyclone fan and supporting the team in their own way, why ruin the experience for them and drive them away?

If it bothers the people around you, be respectful and stick to standing when the occasion calls for it.

Uhh, I attended the last ISU/TAMU game. I was decked out in ISU gear, but was the guest of the parent of an Aggie pleyer. We sat on the 35 with the Aggie players parents.

Half stood, half sat, and most only stood on 3rd downs, key plays, etc.

Time to get reality into the discussion.

Carry on.

Sorry, there was a post earlier in this thread about a father heckling his son about not standing up at a aTm game. Just used it because it was posted, but obviously you're right. I apologize.

No apology needed, you were just discussing the topic.
(I will try and be nice unlike the person who wants to block a 10 year old seeing the game just to stay standing)

A&M is like any other school, the students and corp stand, othew are up and down. They have more standing than other schools, but they have the same debates we do.

The Chiefs fans stand most of the game. Arrowhead is considered to be the closest to college of any NFL venue. It is also the most intimidating. I noticed fans standing outside the students section and thougth it looked pretty awesome. Stay home if you frown on this.

Really seems to help the team! :jimlad:

WoW! My group does Yell Extremely loud ! We stand alot and on 3rd down we stand and yell and encourage others to stand and yell .. We high 5 everyone around us and are not trying to be disrespectful at all ... But blows my mind with people who throw dirty looks or say not so loud ? This IS a football game and if you dont yell dont ?and if you do awesome!!!!I would love to have a section for LOUD< EXCITED < FANS who LOVE to get into that kind of atmosphere !!Most people it bothered have moved away from us and still others have moved to sit near us .

Sad thing is, even in a win - Cyclone fans were seek out something to complain about. I swear it's a subliminal message hidden in our logo or something.

Speaking of "sad".....and not to derail, but it must be some kind of right of passage for Cyclone fans to see who can get out of the parking lot the fastest. If one had no idea the score...they would think the Clones were getting their butts kicked by looking at the stands late in the fourth quarter. Come on......try to stick around when they are winning. There are no prizes for the first one out of the parking lot, your grandma wasn't just hit by a bus.....and your house isn't on fire. So relax and enjoy.

My house was actually on fire, thanks jerk.

And this is how it should be, precisely, in a perfect world.

I have no problem with standing up for big plays, but there are people that ARE affected by people that stand the entire game. I was sitting next to my 10y\o sister last night who was telling me she had a very hard time seeing anything anytime people were standing. If the people around you dont have a problem with it, its fine, but its incredibly selfish to make others do the same just because you want to.

Is it not selfish to make people sit just because you don't want to stand?

Everyone just needs to suck it up and quit being wimps about it. This is college football, not the opera

Maybe we should not sell seat cushions for the games. Since we should all stand. And I don't know why they put those nice seats in the club section. What a waste. True fans would stand. And as far as the bleachers go. Remove them. Just make the whole stadium Standing Room Only. :jimlad::jimlad:
