I have a buddy that looks EXACTLY like him, clothes, sunglasses, hair and all...

I pity you - I would spend all of my time talking to him fuming in this little ball of rage. I always thought I hated it when people put the bill of their baseball cap cockeyed on their head - nope, I hate those sunglasses more.

So basically the entire show? I know what you mean, the guy is a tool.

Yeah, he's a huge turd. I think that's why I have to walk out of the room whenever he's on (including the TGI Friday's commercials) - the sunglasses are just icing. I'm not a cook, but my husband loves the Food Network - he likes Alton (sp?) Brown a lot. He's a little lame, but much better than Guy - although he looked like crap in some commercial I just saw him on today. I think it was a Florida's Best commercial or something? He looks like he'd aged a ton lately!

Buffalo Wild Wings has a sauce called "Carribean Jerk" that's pretty good. I think West Cyde Wings in Ames has a similar sauce. Does that help?

Not just an expert, Wing Expert.

Asian Zing boneless wings are the only BWW wings you will ever need... ohh man those things are great.

He actually cut the hair off now, but he was our first baseman in college and a darn good hitter, transferred from Santa Ana, CA. Came to the first team meeting looking full Guy Fieri'd out...

I actually wear my sunglasses like that inside or when I'm putting playing golf... It's pretty convenient...

Angie, I was just beginning to like you and go and call Alton Brown lame. Good Eats is the best show on the Food Network. FWIW, my wife (who is a food scientist) thinks that he's pretty lame too, but he knows his food science.

I guess I can understand wearing them like that when you're putting - but isn't it more work to turn them around like that than to just push them on top of your head? And while I loved Corey Hart as much as the next girl, sunglasses are made neither for the night nor indoors.

I mainly enjoy good eats because it helps me cook better. Yet sometims Alton's humor is really dry.

Sounds like you have a secret crush on him, and you are just repressing it.

When you turn them around like that they don't move, at all... And for him, I guess he doesn't want to mess up the spikes... But back to Flying Mango, it's awesome!

I should rephrase - he does a great job with the show, and I think it's (by far) the most interesting/factual show on the Food Network. He doesn't just show you what ingredients to throw together - he explains why.

I bet your wife has the same opinion as me, though - sometimes he just overacts a little, with the sticking his head in places or some of that. He at least keeps it interesting, though.

Yeah I am not sure we should allow someone who does not like Alton on this board. He is great!

I want to punch that guy in the ear every time I see those stupid freaking sunglasses on his head backwards.

Angie, the rage.

I sometimes go for that look with the sunglasses, but only when I am trying to recreate the Corey Haim image. Specifically, the post Lost Boys look but prior to Blown Away. I keep the glasses but go on a Valium bender when I try for the E! True Hollywood Story image.

I love food network. That and HGTV are 2 of my FAVORITES!!!

I don't know of any places for you, but I am looking for a good Cajun restaurant now that the one downtown is close permanently b/c of the flood.

Flying Mango is great, but I wouldn't say it's Caribbean or Cajun. It's more like midwestern barbecue with Cajun and Caribbean influences.

I remember the Register's food critic once said someone asked her where to get good Cuban food in Des Moines. Her response was to go to the airport because you're not going to find Cuban food around here. Good Jamaican food might be like that too.
