Has anybody ever been to this restaurant? We are going to Trans Siberian Orchestra Tuesday and I wanted to maybe try this place? It seems fairly pricey so I would hope the food would be good? Any input would be great.

Food is fantastic. Same owner as Jethro's BBQ.

you get what you pay for, IMO it holds true for splash. excellent food and service, if you enjoy oysters get them for sure.

Splash is great but I wouldn't consider it "fairly" priced. One appy, two drinks and two entrees will run you well over $100 after taxes and tip. Great food and service though, I would recommend it.

Great restaurant and prices fall in line with any nice restaurant as most entrees are in the $20-$25 range. The only thing I remember costing more is the Lobster and King Crab Legs. The King Crab Legs are enormous though. Best seafood I've had in the metro and definitely worth the $5 more you would pay over a Waterfront experience.
Ahi Tuna, Swordfish, Chilean Sea Bass, Snowcrabs...all wonderful. Heard good things about their oysters, but I am not an oyster fan.

Maybe I'm just used to seafood and oyster joints on the coast but I am shocked what Splash can get away with charging for Oysters...

Rip-off IMO. I love seafood and for as little as you get for the price its a rip-off. And don't give me its the quality because I have been to plenty of quality seafood restaurants where they also give you a good quantity.

Splash is probably the best place for seafood in Des Moines but I also enjoy Waterfront. I've eaten at a lot of seafood places in both the U.S. and Europe and Splash is very good.

Good food but not good enough to justify what they charge. Went once, probably the last time. If you don't mind dropping $100 you will like it.

Great place, but you may want to think about selling a kidney before going.

I like Centro downtown also, it is nice and about 1/2 the price.

The price is a reason it is for special occasions. Most people go to a place like Splash or 801 (which cost about double Splash) for a treat, not an every weekend date. If money is a concern go buy your own bottle of wine and take it to Django with you. If you want convenience to the Civic Center and some really good seafood, you will not be disappointed. You can eat at Splash for under $50...the drinks are what cost you and what will cost you everywhere.

Testifying
My cousin interned at Splash when he was going to Cordon Bleu, and after he graduated he went back and was/is cooking there. I know that he put a really together a really good effort at Cordon and it seems like some of the other cooks have a good amount of food knowledge like he does.
I've been there before and it seems a little bit more than it maybe should be but comparable restaurants in bigger cities are the same price. If you go to a McCormick and Schmicks in Chicago it is right on par with what they charge. And yes I know Chicago is a bigger city, but Splash is right there with the quality.
