Source: K.J. Bluford is transferring

Kid had potential but not a huge loss in the short term. That guy is a straight gunner and there was no way he would ever get his shots on this team.

This. Immediate needs are at the guard position, or a 4 year big man.

IMO next years team will need a PG like Monte Morris- some one who has a strong assist to TO ratio and play solid on ball defense. I would think Naz Long and Custer can fill the backup PG minutes. The strength of next years team is the 3-4 years of college hoops experience of Niang, Hogue, Nadar and McKay. Add shooters like Thomas , Naz and Dorsey-Walker, just don't see the need for a PG transfer like Kane.

We need to go after a 5th year senior guard like Kane and Korie with this open scholarship.

Does anyone know for sure if it is within the NCAA rules for a senior to graduate after the first semester and then transfer to another school to enter graduate school the second semester? Ie like Kane but mid-year. Can you imagine? It'd be like getting a player at the trade deadline!

We already knew why--because either would be a good catch. Hello?

only frustrating part is that we could have cut him free instead of Armardi, who we could really use right now.
no we couldn't have. he was already on campus when we got a commitment from Kane. Amardi was the only one that wasn't, and it is why he was released.

For the walk on, why not creekmur, he was a d-1 player at asu, could be a better ellerman

Not shocked. Everyone thought he would be playing more. At least we can now sign Vaughn and Cunningham instead f one over the other.

Seems to me that basketball players really hurt themselves by transferring at the end of the first semester.

I think Bluford's options, if he decides to stay at Div 1, would be A) transfer to another school now, sit out until 2nd semester next year and then play 1 semester (and his career would be over) or B) transfer to another school, sit out 1 1/2 years and play one full year.

Staying here until the end of the year wouldn't have cost him any future playing time. I realize it is probably tough sitting on the bench, but there is the possibility of playing on a great team and contributing in some manner to an NCAA tourney team.

So why can't Bubu's be used for McKay and Blufords be used for another transfer at season end?
the decision on Bubu came so late, that his scholarship could not be salvaged for this entire season. Both Bubu and Bluford's scholarship will become available at the end of this season. McKay has to pay his own way for the spring regardless.

He'll likely do the same thing McKay did. Transfer now and start his redshirt year this upcoming spring semester at his new school. That puts him eligible as a RS Junior second semester next year. He'd then have 3 semesters of eligibility left, not one.
