I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Ever since I was burned by having high expectations for the prequels I've always set the bar low for these movies and so far I've enjoyed each of them, even TLJ <gasp>

I think they can do some neat things with a Boba Fett movie, but I really hope they end up doing the Obi-wan movie, especially since they brought back

I really hope they do an Obi-Wan movie. Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan was one of the few good things about the prequals and he wants to do another Star Wars movie. It seems like a no brainer.

I enjoyed the movie. If you don’t go in there expecting the original trilogy, it is a fine action movie that stays true to the characters of Han, Lando, and Chewie. Had to laugh with discussion of pronunciation of “Han.” Billy Dee’s mispronunciation was so rampant in Empire he even had Carrie Fisher saying it wrong.

I want to see it again, but on first watch, I enjoyed Solo way more than I enjoyed The Last Jedi.

It exceeded my (admittedly low) expectations. A really fun film with some good twists.

You have to ignore the reviews of weird people who hate nearly any Star Wars because it's not the original 3 Star Wars film and a separate group who hates it for not being an MCU movie. The fact that Ant-Man is 40% higher than Solo on RT shows you there is some weird fanboy reaction online.

Supposedly the "sequel" is a Boba Fett movie. I want something original. Stop giving me back stories on characters I don't need. Part of what makes Han Solo great is mystery of who the heck he is and where he came from. We essentially got a Boba Fett backstory movie with the prequels too IMO.

Knights of Ren could be a spinoff from 7-9 and has been rumored. There are worse ideas than that.

Looks like Solo did poorly at the box office by star wars standards barely breaking 100 million domestic. That sounds ridiculous to say but it did cost 400 million to make due to all the reshoots. Not good news if you were hoping for some kind of sequal.

Memorial Day weekend right after Deadpool 2 and only five months after TLJ was not a great decision. It's been several years in a row where this hasn't been a great movie weekend.

I'd expect a strong second week but the reviews of people calling it the worst movie ever before they saw it will take a toll.

I don't know, from the expectations of just two weeks ago, it's already tanked.

Rogue One was an awful movie with terrible acting. There was not a single character I cared about and it seemed like they didn't really care about each other either. Why did Cassian kill his "friend" at the beginning? Rumors were that he was supposed to be a double agent of sorts and it looked like they started down that pathway, then never touched it again.

Baze and Churrit...who are these people and why do they get to come along on the mission? It had the feeling that all of these characters were just tossed together to accomplish something. Krennic was a lame villain and Darth Vader should have been in more of the movie. Rogue One takes place when Vader is at his most powerful and we only get to see him being a badass the last 30 seconds.

I couldn't disagree more. Rogue One is my second favorite Star Wars movie after Empire. I was neutral on Last Jedi. I have no interest in seeing Solo.

I thought the acting in Rogue One was just fine. Also, the movie's whole point was to bridge a gap to how the death star plans were taken. It was a finite story with characters who were introduced to serve one goal. Why would they want you to care about characters that are all going to die later in the movie? They wanted you to care about the mission not the characters themselves. Rogue One was a great movie with a clear plot. Last Jedi was kind of all over the place and at times very boring.

I thought it would do better in part due to the heat in so much of the country. Might discourage some of the traditional outdoor stuff.

Well first week definitely did financially. I'm telling you there's something to the very early overly negative reviews.

On opening Friday and saturday morning RT reviews were barely over 40%. Now they're 60%. So after the initial wave of (sometimes even organized) nerds it got 80% positive reviews. Word of mouth is pretty huge.

In truth this is the "not every movie has to save the universe" Star Wars movie. If they're going to have 1-2 a year on average a lot of them need to become that or else it will be beyond ridiculous.

Solo, Deadpool 2 and Infinity War should have staying power the next few weeks. The next big release is Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom which doesn't come out until 6/29. I suppose Sicario 2 is sort of a big release, but as an R rated movie it won't cannibalize the people seeing Solo and Infinity War. Plus it doesn't come out until 6/22 anyways.

My wife and I went yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was much more entertaining than TLJ. I now feel like I need to watch the clone wars series.

The clone wars is good. I've watched the entire series twice. Just an FYI, if you watch it in episode order, just know it's not in chronological order. You can go online and find the chronological order.

So just like the main series.

Also watched it this weekend and it was ok. Not as good as Rogue One but way better than the abomination that was TLJ.

Not sure why but this movie doesn't move the needle for me at all.

I can't seem to find an interest in it. Don't know if it's an oversaturation of everything Star Wars, Disney, or the fact that Harrison Ford can only be Solo.

I couldn't get fired up for Rogue One either.

Sounds like a good one!

Just saw it this morning...the theaters gotta be loving this hot weather. 9:15 movie was practically sold out.

Thought it was fun--some good humor and the twists at the end were interesting. Something I've appreciated about these last few Star Wars flicks is I don't feel like it's all of the nonhuman characters are CGI and still looks very real.

Chewy might be the most likable character ever. Funny, has a big heart, and can rip arms off.

I might have had the loudest laugh at the theater when Han was talking up his 30 people in the Falcon and it took off.

For the record, I've liked Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, Rogue One, and this one. Having in depth problems with these types of movies means you need different hobbies.

I liked it and was entertained. I tried to disconnect it from the Star Wars story and watch it as it's own movie. That became difficult as there were lots of call outs to the franchise.
