Okay, discuss this all you want in here. Let's keep the other thread about finding Jonathan Lacina. For those who don't know about the Smily face killers, here is a overview: Smiley Face Killers: Abel Bolanos Ames, IA - Smiley Face Killers

Yeah, see...I remember my friend worked for the Daily when the Abel Bolanos thing happened. He told me they had a "tip" he was being followed and harassed in campustown or something. I didn't hear anything again about that...but thought it was interesting.

Hopefully Lacina is found soon

Does anyone have a link to the article from the Iowa State Daily that was posted a while back? The one where the reporter took the investigators on a tour of Ames and they found the smily face by lake Laverne?

It was in the Ames Tribune...

Why do people think the SFK is some crazy conspiracy theory? Let's see, you have college aged males, all of a certain height/weight and build range, who happen to have a similar social life....who are found dead that looks accidental.

Then there's magically a smiley face that's found near by and they all look similar.

Why is this a conspiracy theory tin foil hat thing again? It's completely possible...we aren't talking about UFOs here.

same reason people dont believe in bigfoot. Until its sitting right in front of them it isnt real. drastic example but same difference.

Could you give us a link that proves there's a smiley face near by all of these occurrences? All I have seen proven is there was one, and only one, and that was in Ames.... and who's to say that wasn't already there prior to the death

You know what we should do, we should combine this thread with the Urban Exploring thread from last year.

I"m not bashing people who think otherwise...however, with the Abel case, they actually did find the "smiley face" in a sewer pipe leading to the lake or whatever.

And I am one of those people who doesn't believe in anything biiiiiig (like bigfoot or aliens in govt) until the proof is right under my face, however I am not saying I totally believe in SFK, I am merely asking why people think it's totally out of the question that SFK could exist.

With Bigfoot, I'm not going to believe in it. Why? Because you're asking me to believe in a creature that supposedly survived over thousands upon thousands of years and magically exists in a forest. On the flip side, with SFK it's not out of the question because (a) people kill other people and (b) there's serial killers and all of these deaths happen the same way.

I'm not saying it one way or another, I'm saying logically speaking it's stupid to completely throw out that a serial killer exists. I'm not even tying this to Lacina, I'm making a general statement that it would be much more logical to believe in SFK than bigfoot or aliens working with our government or something.

I'm not arguing one way or another. I'm just saying it's weird about that. And even Abel had this **** near lake laverne.

The (smiley) face of a killer? - TODAY

There are other links I'm sure..people have done more in depth **** than this.

Here nor there
It is too early to say if recent events were the SFK, but I do think CyPhy's theory that it would be easier for a serial killer(s) to go "undetected" when targeting (young) males is valid. If this(?) was happening to 40-80 young female college students over the same time span, there would be a national outcry.

SFK is actually pretty unbelievable. Maybe there's a grain of truth, who knows.

Yeah, I'm not saying there's nothing to all of it, but some of it is ridiculous.

The backwards cross and predicted killing in Green Bay around April 1 is a little creepy. If a guy can predict where and when then i think there is something to it.

AS well as phone calls ending abruptly.

The whole thing is messed up.

I don't know...it's more believable to me than a lot of other theories. Serial Killers and the like are crazy anyway. They do leave "calling cards" sometimes too, that's not very uncommon.

Look at Luke Helder who tried to pipe bomb people in the upper midwest in 2002 and if you drew it on a map, it was a smiley face. That's pretty unbelievable too but it was still true.

Also, SFK was formulated by two retired NYC detectives who have more experience in the field than all of us combined and probably know what they're talking about any second of the day more than us.

Anyway, it's much more plausible in my mind than bigfoot.

And being retired probably would like some book money to pay for their winter homes in Arizona.

I just looked up the detectives names on Amazon.com book search and found 0 results.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge two people you probably know nothing about.

WOW! Maybe you should be running this investigation.
