Anyone know if the Skunk River is high enough to float down right now? There has been very little rain around Ames lately. No one likes to walk the whole way when you are Skunking.

I'm sure there is a site you can check river levels, let me check.

Ooo thats harsh ands sound you would be walking a lot of spots. Even near avearge height there are a couple walk zones. 2 ft off record low sounds like it would be a disaster trip.

I went a couple of weeks ago from Ada Hayden to Carr Pool. Took about 4 hours and had to walk about 5 times.

IIRC, when we went, it was usually fine when it was above 5 feet at the Riverside gauge. You really only need about 2 feet of water to tube in, so loosing a 1 to 2 feet of depth could make it hell..

Yeah we pretty much looked at the water and thought it was deeper than yesterday. My feet weren't too happy with the decision and it always seems the rocks were the sharpest at the low points. It also made it hard to drink when you had to keep getting up and walking.
