It was also interesting that when Mark's outtie became conscious after the overtime contingency was disabled, he called his sister Persephone. They treated it like him making a joke, but there's some significance to that name, with Persephone being a greek goddess, kidnapped and married to Hades, and forced to spend half of her life above ground and half of it in the underworld, which very much parallels the overall theme of the show.
It might just be a nod by the writers of the show, and maybe has no significance to the plot, but it was an interesting word choice either way.

Wow. Good info. I’m gonna guess the creation/birth of her child is going to play a part in the plot at some point.

My memory is fuzzy, but in S1 she was talking with the wife of the senator about severance. Then the topic of kids came up and the wife said “couldn’t have done it without a little help.” Which I took to mean the birth of their children is somehow tied to Lumon.

I think it's pretty clear that the senator's wife that Mark's sister met at the birthing camp was severed, and her innie was experiencing pregnancy, so her outtie didn't have to. When Devon saw her later at the playground, she didn't recognize her.

Also, what do people think the significance of the pineapple is? It's got to be something. Each of the outties gets a pineapple. In episode 1, Lumon said that innies would be able to participate in pineapple bobbing. And Cobel specifically asked Mark if a pineapple was involved when he was convinced to go back to work. Nothing is random in this show, so I'm curious what's up with pineapples.

At least it's not an upside down pineapple. The message would be pretty clear, there

You seem way more adept at picking up on these things than I do. My observation is a pineapple is significantly different on the inside vs outside.

Outside it’s spiny and rough. Inside it’s soft and sweet.

No idea how that connects to the plot though.

Anyone know a good podcast that goes over each episode? The Ringer has good ones for other shows, but don’t seem to have a Severance one.

I tried this one, but the two hosts were a little dull:

Ok I am way off probably but you asked. The first season had that scene with goats. This season pineapples are a theme. What ties those two together? Cloning. Obviously we know goats have been cloned but did you know one of the easiest ways to grow a pineapple is by propagating an existing part of a pineapple?

I have heard the cloning theory and it definitely holds water. It would explain why Mark's outtie could have legitimately identified his wife's dead body while still allowing Ms. Casey to exist. And Macro Data Refinement is about recreating a person's memories in the clone, with Lumon's ultimate goal being the cloning and resurrection of Kier Eagan.

Also I’m on a tangent and go way off on these things sometimes. But we know Egan’s four ‘tempers’ were discussed when they visited the perpetuity wing last season. The four tempers are woe. Frolic. Dread. Malice.

Those are the buckets they put the ‘bad’ numbers in in their job.

But is it possible each of the four main characters are each one of the tempers?

have a theory that shows/movies that get pushed this hard end up sucking.

I’ve never and will never watch a movie prompted during NBA playoffs.

The severance S2 ad push met that bar for me.
**edit** am I wrong in my assessment? Is it worth the time investment to give it a shot?***

Do you? I think it’s strange to insert into a thread full knowing what you’re gonna post has nothing to do with the show.
I failed to close my initial post effectively:
“Am I wrong about Severance 2?”

The CF full screen takeover felt too far for me.

Fair enough. So far, the quality has not dipped at all. They appear to have a very good grasp on the story they want to tell, and are executing it well.
