Has anybody bought whisky from Aldi in Des Moines? I've never seen it in the one I go to, but I can't say that I've ever looked for it either.
I don't think any of the Aldi's around here carry any hard liquor. They carry beer and wine only.
You left out the part where he buys a 51% stake of the distillery to diversify his portfolio. Fairly certain it was in the series finale.
Did a Macallan tasting on a cruise last month. They are transitioning away from the yr labeling (12yr / 18yr) and going towards different flavor profiles obtained from a mix of different casks / barrel aging. It gives them more freedom as they aren't locked into holding it for 12-18 yrs before putting onto the market.
Right now they are only selling the new varieties in Duty Free stores as they gauge interest from travelers. They start at about $75 (Quest) and go up quickly from there to $150 to $250. Very good taste profiles but rather pricey...

Ive had their irish cream, but that was not good. Bailey's is king, but if I'm feeling cheap, I get Saint Brendan's, it's the most comparable for less money.
Hopefully they will bring the scotch across the pond though. I would like to try it.
