The Love, Death and Robots thread on the series of shorts on Netflix reminded me that I'd recently stumbled onto Dust on YouTube that featured a number of sci-fi shorts. And you know how YouTube likes to link you similar stuff so I started see a multitude of shorts, not just those posted under Dust. I'll link a couple I likes, post you favs or recommended one.

Here's one I watched last night. Live action, many are 3D. Immediate recognized the actress but could not place her. I must have total no recall because she, Anna Hopkins, has been in Defiance, The Expanse, Killjoys, and Dark Matter. She must like sci-fi.

They are releasing 6 short fan films based on the Alien franchise to celebrate the 40th anniversary. Here's the first one.

Had a little trouble locating this one again. It's on a whole different level of story, acting, dialogue and graphics. Sort of China meets Palestine meets the machines meets love story meets suicide bomber. Big budget stuff with real movie actors and on location shooting.

It has gotten to the point where people with even low budgets can produce videos with really good special effects. The limiting factor will always be the person's ability to act. I wish they had chosen a better actor for that "FTL" short movie, for example.

I can't wait until someone makes a full movie from the Arthur C. Clark book, "Rendezvous with Rama".

True that and it's why some of the shorts that are full animation have better acting than some of the live action ones even with the 3D past limitation on faces and hair.....although some are getting so very realistic now.
