For all the cheering Santo did which unfortunately is what many people think about when they hear his name...if you are someone who listened to Santo call a game, you knew he knew the game as well as anyone!

Even as a Brewer fan I am saddened by this news. I can't get Brewers games here in Iowa on the radio. Listening to the cubs was my fix for baseball throughout the summer.

I'm not a Cubs fan but I always enjoyed turning over to 1350 and listening to Santo's description and passion for both the Cubs and baseball. He was a remarkable individual for what he did in baseball but more for what he did to help others outside of sport. The world needs more Ron Santos.

It's hard to find a guy more passionate about Cubs baseball than Ronny. He poured his heart and soul into the Cubs both when he was playing, and announcing games. He could have easily hung up the microphone years ago after his first amputation, but he just kept giving and giving to Cubs fans. This is a sad day for baseball fans everywhere.

Maybe NOW he can finally get into the HOF. :realmad:

I listen to almost every Cubs game on radio and even though I like Dave Otto on the games he replaced Ron it won't be the same from now on.

Horrible way to wake up this morning! I really wish Ron could have lived through the Cubs winning a Wolrd Series. Nobody deserved to experience that more then he did. And it's a damn shame that the man wasn't inducted into the Hall during his lifetime. RIP Ronny, the 1350 airwaves just wont be the same without you.

Pat and Ron were a summer staple for me. I hardly ever had the chance to watch the games the last few seasons, but I listened all the time. They made a great broadcasting team. RIP Ronny.

I've spent a lot of time listening to Pat and Ron. Although far from the best color man, Ron grew on you. Not surprised but I'm shocked. It really is a shame that he never got to see a Cubs championship. There was no bigger Cub fan than Ron Santo.

Just saw this, I'm really gonna miss Ron on the radio in the summer. Him and Pat were great together, you'll be missed Ron.
