Same here! Just the right amount of tension and scary but not too scary for a kid of the 80s.
I watched Iron Eagle about a thousand times. Big fan, but even as a little kid, I couldn’t shake the fact that some over the hill pilot and a teenager “stole” two, fully armed F-16’s (lost one to the ocean), went into enemy territory and destroyed everything in their path. I mean…multiple grounded airplanes, bases, oil fields, not to mention the scores of people they had to have killed.
