I told my wife that he died. She said "Who???" Facepalm. This is a woman that watched Mail Call when we were first married because I work for the Army (civilian), and while he was a Marine, there's crossover and it gave her some idea of what I did.

Having old man lapse, what's the one where he's a football coach who ends up in jail?

Is that Saving Silverman?

I am surprised we did not hear that, "Death was killed today when Gunny ambushed him in the latter's hospital room. The Gunny sprang from behind the door and beat Death to death with a chair. He is reportedly now in good spirits and health."

I met him at a Marine Corps Ball in San Diego one time when I was first in the Marines. Very nice guy but Intimidating as hell at first. I think he knew how he was looked at so he was overly nice to everyone and made everyone feel comfortable. Sad that he has passed away. Great guy. Also, many Marines Joined the Corps because of Full Metal Jacket. Not as many as joined the Navy to become Pilots after top gun but still a lot. He was great for all Military branches. RIP Gunny
