Texas isn't even in the SEC yet and already A&M is back to being a second-class citizen in their own conference.
Honestly, I can see Texas being a long term cancer to the health of any conference - even the mighty SEC! SEC!

Disagree. A media company needs inventory. And think about it, if the average payout is 55 mil, that means half the teams are worth less than that. This is unfortunately correct. This is 100% about money. I'd prefer the top 64-96 schools just break away and collectively bargain a single TV deal so everything in the sport could be about rivalries and short trips for athletes. The money machine demands otherwise.
Any addition has to add $55M-$60M+ per addition, otherwise it just doesn't make any sense.
I'm genuinely surprised at how many on here would choose joing the Big 10 as their first choice.
This should always be first choice. If there are actually any choices ISU gets to make. Big money conference? Natural rivals? I’d pick B10 over anything anytime. B12 is not viable. It never was long term. Even the B8 was in trouble. This implosion has been in the works for literally decades.I'm genuinely surprised at how many on here would choose joing the Big 10 as their first choice.
Do they though? At this point, who cares about the why? It's like a spouse who decides to cheat repeatedly. At some point, the 'why' just doesn't matter and you're better off planning for your future than constantly asking why.
It's a stable league that cares about academics and would afford ISU the opportunity for rivalry games against Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, as well as Iowa becoming a conference game.I'm genuinely surprised at how many on here would choose joing the Big 10 as their first choice.

Personally, I think the best scenario is for all the schools to stay put. OU and Texas have an easy path to the playoff. Go to the SEC, that path gets harder. If you want to stay relevant at a high level, winning lots of games will help you do that.
Additionally, is there something the current Big 12 can offer to keep them in the conference? Maybe that's what OU and Texas want, some kind of change to the conference so they are using the SEC as a prop to scare the rest of the Big 12.
Its where the most $ is. Why wouldn't that be our first choice?I'm genuinely surprised at how many on here would choose joing the Big 10 as their first choice.
The BIG is the best option, no doubt. However, Iowa being a conference game is not a plus to me. I already am annoyed with dealing with those A-holes as much as I do. Being in their league will make them even worse. Not looking forward to that if it happens. It's a stable league that cares about academics and would afford ISU the opportunity for rivalry games against Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, as well as Iowa becoming a conference game.
You are on an island...alone. It's a no-brainer. Almost literally.I'm genuinely surprised at how many on here would choose joing the Big 10 as their first choice.
Both are private religious schools which in the past the Pac 12 has shied away from. Not sure how either would fit into the culture of those schools.TCU and Baylor to the PAC would certainly throw a wrench in things
Pretty sure it is over at this point. If they've been planning and preparing for 6 months to a year, this isn't a play to get more $ from the Big 12.

Being annoyed is a personal choice. I'll take the money, stability, and moped length rides to most of our opponents. The BIG is the best option, no doubt. Would be annoying but it is then up to ISU to step up and start beating them more on a consistent basis. The BIG is the best option, no doubt. We should throw a ******* parade if we ever get a Big Ten invitation
A big ******* parade
I trust JP to put ISU in the best position possible.
