Recruit Poaching

I remember last year at this time, Indiana and coach Sampson were getting killed in the media and by other coaches for Eric Gordon switching from Illinois to Indiana. Everybody talked about how unethical it was even if it was technically ok.

So, tell me, what is the difference of what just happened with DJ Marshall, and presumably the other 100+ instances this year where coaches continue to recruit verbally committed players.

I just wonder why it was such a big deal with Indiana last year, and not a big deal at all elsewhere.

Probably has a lot to do with Gordon being a Top 5 kid and Smpson being new to the conference at the time and swooping in and stealing one from Illinois. Also didn't help that help was penalized for recruiting infractions.

The future of out offensive line is based on recruits we 'poached'.

i wasn't implying that it was necessarily wrong - mostly just asking a loaded question since i was upset when Indiana was getting railed for getting Gordon.

Who on the offensive line did we poach? just curious.

I've got news for you...ALL coaches continue to recruit kids they covet, even after they give a verbal commitment...they continue to do so until a kid signs is LOI. These verbal commitments mean nothing.
