I think Bubu gets a scholly for permanent. I also think Lockett will come here. That will make 5 scholarships for '13 where we can get a JUCO and 4 freshman.

We really need another post for next season.
Right now we have Gibson, Booker, Niang, and Ejim. If Gibson gets in foul trouble we don't have much of a post presence.

I think Niang will be a solid player that can provide some good minutes and Ejim will continue to play well!

the problem is we have 2 PFs (Gibson and Booker) and 3 tweeners in our frontcourt. If one of those two go down Niang is going to be asked to log extended minutes vs. Big XII Centers and that is going to be a problem he doesn't have the bulk to absorb the pounding and will get into foul trouble.

What's different from last year? We're trading Royce for Niang and more of Gibson. There's not many good Big 12 centers that are going to be low post scorers. You have Withey and the KSU guy. I think Ejim could guard Withey pretty well, unless Withey becomes coordinated, and the KSU guy is a stick that Percy could handle. Newcomers, Austin from Baylor is also a stick, Ridley from Texas is a bit thicker, but he'll still be a freshman and Booker has more bulk.

You don't build a team to match up with current B12 rosters unless you are depleted and trying to work your way up. You build a team to make them match up with you. Another true post on this team wouldn't bother me a bit and would be more than a warranted use of a remaining scholarship.

The question I have is whether there are any post players left that can contribute immediately.

about 50 pounds, we really need a third post. Niang will play the 4 for us and do it well but we really need another big body.

Ejim is not going to be able to guard a 7 footer who figured out how to play in the tournament.

He's not even in the conversation, just by size alone.

One thing about last year you have to remember is we got very lucky that we didn't have any major injuries in the frontcourt. And if we did have an injury, Railey was there to take some minutes. While Railey may not have been very good, he was still a big body capable of playing 10-15 minutes a game if we needed him to.

This year, we literally have no one after Niang, Booker, Ejim and Gibson. That's not very deep. It's got potential to be a very good frontline but if there is one injury, we are screwed. Getting another big man is very important for us next year.

Getting every position will be important for us next year.

We lose Babb, Lucious, Clyburn, McGee, Booker and possibly Lockett

That will be one of the most important recruiting years of Hoiberg's career. Hopefully we can use wide open playing time as a nice carrot to secure some immediate impact players.

I think he could, Withey is no offensive juggernaut. That was also just an example. Our small 4 man can take on the best center the Big 12 has to offer. Royce handled him pretty easily and he's got maybe an inch on Ejim. Sure Royce is a lot thicker, but Ejim is also a much better/aggressive defender.

Maybe Fred should be begging Railey to come back. I highly doubt there's someone out there this late better than Railey that we have a shot at.

Fred will not be wishing Railey was back. He is nothing more than a body that can pick up fouls. Anyone can do that.

I think Fred would rather take his chances going small and trying to create mismatches that way than rely on Railey. If you need Railey to provide significant minutes, you're probably in big trouble either way.

Early favorite for post of the year.

I remember GMac saying he liked to have 5 bigs out of his 13 schollys.

I'm in favor of anything different than that.
