Obviously, Iowa State has been incredibly fun to watch this year... Their hustle, toughness, and team defense has been on display throughout the first 9 games. But one of the keys last night was the rebounding. Through the first 8 games, ISU was ok on the boards.. against iowa they dominated:
On the offensive glass, ISU got 21 of the 38 rebounds (55%!) that is unbelievable to out rebound your opponent on the offensive end. On the defensive side they got 29 of 44 (66%). Overall, 50 of 82 rebounds for 61%.
We didn't get as many turnovers this game (12, high for iowa, but lowest we have forced against top competition - osu, xavier, memphis, creighton, iowa). But +18 on the boards is by far the most dominating performance we have seen from these guys.
Bottom line, this team is playing hard, scrappy basketball. Whether it's turnovers, rebounds, loose balls, or just ball pressure defense, these guys get after it. Different team than we have seen in a while.
